The first thing you should know is that FF7 Rebirth in specific should have installed most of the goodies needed to work automatically, including the C++ redistributable - in the Steam interface on the Bazzite side:
- Try setting FF7R to 'Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool' and try some of the versions available
- More recent versions are likely to work best
- You can try changing it, running the game, and then unchecking 'force the use' and run the game again, to make it reset to the defaults
Switching the compatibility tool should help reset the WINE prefix, but I want to give you some extra info that might help in general to understand the Bazzite / Linux side of things:
- When playing games on the Linux side that are meant for Windows, you'll be using open source software called WINE
- WINE was made for general Windows programs, and Valve makes an enhanced version called Proton that is good for running games
- When you run a game inside of WINE, it has to setup a fake Windows drive where the game is installed into, and this is usually called a WINE / Proton 'prefix'
- If you run an installer like the Microsoft C++ Redistributable installer in WINE / Proton while using a game's 'prefix' it will now have that Microsoft C++ Redistributable installed for the game to use
- There is software meant to help do exactly this called 'winetricks' and there's one for Steam / Proton called 'protontricks' - get these and you can use them to install a lot of game-requirements like the C++ redist
There's lots more to find out and learn, but hopefully some of this info helps you or others out if you're just getting started with Linux! Good luck!
