side quests are just.... booring? and map activity repeats itself SEVEN times???
i dont know whos idea at square enix was to make so many side quests and climb towers crap it almost feels insane to me.

pls pls square enix, you can do better. every areas map activity is just copied and pasted...

dont get me wrong, story is good.
its just the side content is kinda ... meh.... only problem is that you need to do this to get some useful materia and manusscripts etc....

i cant be the only one feeling this way ? i kinda feel burned out even without finishing normal mode.
im at chapter 12 and wanted to go for hard mode, but its just too much, just gonna do the chapter 13 and put this aside...

calling it insane to say that the game isn't trying to "waste your time" hurts your point, not mine.

and it is simply sad to think that being jaded is a sign of maturity, rather then an acceptance that you chose not to feel joy my dude; im gonna be enthused about things, im worth at least that much lmao.

and if doing the activity is not worth your time: you literally need not do it, as i said at the very start of this thread.

you might wanna look at your own words and grow yourself, to be quite honest.

I called you insane because I thought the malice thing was out of left field and made no sense. I feel joy when I play games and everything else in life. I don't when playing these minigames and I wont delude myself into thinking I enjoy them even though I'm the biggest Final Fantasy fan ever.
Yes I do thing changing your values is a sign of maturity. ♥♥♥♥ video games like this
presuming a game is trying to waste your time rather then give you a fun experince is why it was said, so it wasn't out of left field.

and if you feel joy much the same as i do i have no idea why you're getting on me for saying im not jaded.

and nobody is forcing you to like them, i am genuinely sorry you don't, but as i have said many times now: you do not need to do them, they are optional save for a few, and you can be *very* liberal with how bad you are at them.

its a few in costa, and a few in golden, and you're done.

the thing with changing values is a new, but sure, i agree with that sentiment, but the thing is: i have no reason to hate a video game like this, when nothing about it is bad for me, it rewards me for my effort, i like the gameplay loop and i like that the game provides me breaks from said loop for when i tire out from it.

not every game is gonna be for everyone, to no surprise, if the optional content is a dealbreaker for you, so be it.

Eh it gives me something to do when I wanna play a bit but am short on time.

Certainly not the most exciting or original stuff, but it's something to do.

yeah, thats my point, it didn't follow anything of a traditional jrpg but is still ultimately a final fantasy game, cause the only thing that decides that is being part of the IP.
In my opinion growing up with Final Fantasy, playing every final fantasy game and every port, Final Fantasy is blowing you away with an epic and amazing story. Up until about FFXIII they were on the cutting edge of graphics, no one did CGI and cutscenes like they did. They had the best turn based combat, nothing came close.
FFVII Rebirth and Remake are the only two games that don't follow that formula.

Growing up with final fantasy also seem to make you forget all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ grind and minigames that've been plaguing the series since FF7.

God forbids the devs for attempting to make the grind process less tedious by implementing it into the side quest.

We all long for more peak jrpg design, like the chocobo breding and materia grind in ff7 or lightning dodge and monster arena "kill moster X times". 👌 a fun activity where you totally didnt need to turn your brain off while doing it

Sincerely,

FF fan

Need is an interesting word
Like was a multiverse trilogy that takes a dump on the original "needed?"

After Disney stopped returning their calls? Yes.

The thing is though, if you like Remake and Rebirth and want more of that then it isn't JRPGs you want at all.

I grew up on old school JRPG's, favorite game ever is probably Suikoden 2, and I want more of rebirth and remake. I also want more old school JRPG's like Octopath.
They aren't mutually exclusive. :P

And yeah, the grind was intense on FF7 too, and I could easily rack up the same playtime I would on rebirth. ^^

Also Rebirth and Remake are still JRPG's. If you think these are action games, you're playing them wrong. ;D

They are Action RPGs, saying they are still JRPGs is like saying Mass Effect or DA2 are still CRPGs.

Just like tales, KH, nier, star ocean, xenoblade, ys, mana, twewy are not jrpg 👌

Mass Effect and DA2 are action RPG's, this isn't.
I don't really care about your opinion on the topic, but if you state it as fact, I'm gonna correct you. ;p

if you want to do optional end game content then yes, logically, playing the game an dgetting involved in its core gameplay loop is optimal to do so, but optional content is, in the end, optional content, you can 100% beat this game without doing everything.
I want to see the story and I want to do the end game challenges. Combat is easy as ♥♥♥♥ until the arena missions and some combat simulator missions. So to do that I have to do like 50 hours of minigames? It's crazy
Sure, but contrary to how OP is pitching it Folio 10 is just more min-maxing. That content is plenty doable without completely maxing out.

Thus you don't really "have to do" all those mini-games.

Not saying they couldn't have done a better job with the side content to give more interesting reasons to explore. It very much falls into the same pit of repetitive nature as Elden Ring or Ubisoft games, to an extent at least though I'd argue at least some of it is superior and engaging here.
This PC 7 FEB a las 11:13 p. m.
concerning side content, there is definitely too much, but yeah, there's at least effort to make it engaging here ^^

you dont need to do them if you find them boring, like any rpg if something doesn't suit your playstyle and isn't part of the msq, you can ignore it.
Only usually that amounts to 1 unfunny minigame here and there, not the 80% of the game.

idk FF7 had a lot of side content that kinda felt mandatory too ;p
