and if you feel joy much the same as i do i have no idea why you're getting on me for saying im not jaded.
and nobody is forcing you to like them, i am genuinely sorry you don't, but as i have said many times now: you do not need to do them, they are optional save for a few, and you can be *very* liberal with how bad you are at them.
its a few in costa, and a few in golden, and you're done.
the thing with changing values is a new, but sure, i agree with that sentiment, but the thing is: i have no reason to hate a video game like this, when nothing about it is bad for me, it rewards me for my effort, i like the gameplay loop and i like that the game provides me breaks from said loop for when i tire out from it.
not every game is gonna be for everyone, to no surprise, if the optional content is a dealbreaker for you, so be it.
Certainly not the most exciting or original stuff, but it's something to do.
Growing up with final fantasy also seem to make you forget all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ grind and minigames that've been plaguing the series since FF7.
God forbids the devs for attempting to make the grind process less tedious by implementing it into the side quest.
We all long for more peak jrpg design, like the chocobo breding and materia grind in ff7 or lightning dodge and monster arena "kill moster X times". 👌 a fun activity where you totally didnt need to turn your brain off while doing it
Sincerely,
FF fan
After Disney stopped returning their calls? Yes.
I grew up on old school JRPG's, favorite game ever is probably Suikoden 2, and I want more of rebirth and remake. I also want more old school JRPG's like Octopath.
They aren't mutually exclusive. :P
And yeah, the grind was intense on FF7 too, and I could easily rack up the same playtime I would on rebirth. ^^
Also Rebirth and Remake are still JRPG's. If you think these are action games, you're playing them wrong. ;D
Just like tales, KH, nier, star ocean, xenoblade, ys, mana, twewy are not jrpg 👌
Mass Effect and DA2 are action RPG's, this isn't.
I don't really care about your opinion on the topic, but if you state it as fact, I'm gonna correct you. ;p
Thus you don't really "have to do" all those mini-games.
Not saying they couldn't have done a better job with the side content to give more interesting reasons to explore. It very much falls into the same pit of repetitive nature as Elden Ring or Ubisoft games, to an extent at least though I'd argue at least some of it is superior and engaging here.
what ? I've been lied to for 25 years ;o;
idk FF7 had a lot of side content that kinda felt mandatory too ;p
