Next part a separate game or DLC?
So, i'm worried about continuity, and having to start over with character/weapon/materia leveling.

I guess they could do the save data carryover thing if it's a separate game, but if it's a dlc it can actually become one game where you play rebirth to the end and then it just continues with the next part.

it will be an entirely separate game and they are making solid progress (i think they're over 9 months into production?). whether or not our saves can be carried over still needs to be confirmed, but i doubt they will. it will likely be rewards for having a safe file from rebirth on the save system/account/etc.

From my understanding the story for the third part of this remake is already done, they were satisfied with it, it's just a question of how long it takes to come out from this point, as they started production on it right after rebirth, so i guess they are putting everything else around it.

we likely won't get the carried over saves, but bonuses for having the other 2 parts of the remake, like they just did.

i wouldn't get my hopes up of carry over saves, unless they make combine all parts together in one big game. which i doubt.
Any DLC story with rebirth. Squarenix said that they went straight to the next game (part3).

Wanted to point out that "Disks" in 1997 were CD's they were 650mb, just under 2gb in total not "big" by any standards today but it was then and all the mechanics from it would fit onto one disk, it was the movies and things like that took up all the space, just like graphics and movies today need 140Gb. It just wasn't done in 1996, FF7 changed it and now its standard.

They might release a DLC for Rebirth as Intermission was released for Remake but its a big might as its been out on ps5 for a while now. As far as I know they will do the same thing here with the next part of the story, start you off with a few things and you will need to get the rest as you go through the game, as this is the same thing they done coming from Remake into Rebirth. Third part of the story won't be a DLC for this one though.

not sure why it'd be dlc to you?

don't expect anything to carry over, aside from from maybe the "here is some stuff for playing last game" like they did for ramuh.
that would suck.
The sense of a long adventure and growing during the course of it is part of why jrpgs were so special.
I really want my stuff to carry over, and to have the feeling of 1 game.
you know whats stupid dividing the game in 3 seprate once to make more money instead of spending more time on it and give us the full expiriance

I’m pretty sure Square confirmed no DLC for Rebirth not long after it came out on PS5. They wanted to go straight into working on Part 3.
