Sound crackling issue?
Not having such in any other games, but frequently the sound makes crackling sound like sound device switching off for a moment and getting back on immediately.
Sometimes it happens a couple times in seconds, sometimes after minutes of playing. Happens even if there is no visual lags/stutters.
Sound goes from asus rog phoebus card to speakers via spdif.
Does anyone also experience such? Any workarounds?

Wait what, It switches to optical connection on its own? Any specific stuff youre doing ingame when it happens? (like an ingame audio-track looping or switching to another one when it ends)

Didnt read properly. Id guess deactivating the spdif connection would be a workaround.

My PC is in another room, connected to TV and separate speakers through the wall. I dont want to use built-in dynamics via hdmi. Problem is exactly with this single game, so it's not hardware issue...

Ahaha my bad I misread your initial post and assumed the card was a separate output than your spdif output. Thought it was just switching those at random.

Try setting your sampling rate to 44.1hz 24bit and retry.

Id also recommend doing a gpu and cpu stresstest while playing some music. Had the same problem with an internal soundcard when gpu was under heavy load. Dont know what other games you play so I dont know your average gpu load while playing but ffvii is heavy as ♥♥♥♥.
