Yeah, there was no need to soften the Dyne story. The original had a much greater impact.
yeah that's also a problem. WTF is wrong with games development these days? Just incompetence everywhere. The player should be wondering if it is Barret until the scene where Barret finds Dyne. They have to shoot their load so early, every time. All these developers need treatment for premature ejaculation.
I've already accepted that you don't need to be a SOLDIER to be superhuman compared to your typical real human. Tifa, Cid, Barret, and Yuffie have feats that would put them relativistic to lightspeed. That doesn't mean your point isn't vaild, though. It's a mistake how they switch from game play physics, to cinematic physics.
If anything, they should show them looking battle-damaged, or maybe keep a barrier materia on like most people would if they were doing combat in Gaia. You'd think it would be standard issue for all shinra troops. That way it can logic how one can go get shot or slashed so many times and keep fighting without signs of battle damage.
I think they were scared to portray a black man in that light because of modern day. Rebirth started development right in the thick of the pandemic, BLM, etc. It's not hard to see them being hesitant to risk that back when journos had more legitimacy and were crusading against any game that was deemed "problematic", like Cyberpunk. Barret's innocence being in question from the player's perspective could have invited the crazies of 2020-2021 to swoop on SE.
Hell, they already did pre-emptively:

I'd have preferred if they kept to the OG. I get they wanted to show more of Barret's mother-hen nature, but removing a bit of his anger removed a bit of poignancy that he brought to the table at Gold Saucer. When you had the likes of Kotaku and a few other journos writing articles like this, it's no wonder SE has an ethics department now and the consultants, just like CDPR after getting lambasted unreasonably.
In the flashback, dyne also jumped off the cliff, yet he somehow survived (remember why barret thought he alr died?). With how the scene was depicted in ff7, audience might believe the same event might repeat (dyne survived the fall)
