so no character transfer from remake to rebirth.
im probably really late to the party on this one. i though this was a continuance (our disk 2 content)
not a fresh game. this really sucks ass running around with a buster sword this far into the game.

but knowing this i now have little to no interest in finding every item and meteria.
just be strong enough to finish and shelve it since next disk i assume will be the same wipe and start.

edit* yes remake is only half of disk 1 - which lead me to think this was a continuance.

remake ends when the party leaves midgar and heads for kalm, in the original you had the buster sword for the entire midgar area and it wasnt until you get to kalm that the party could purchase the first weapon upgrades, i believe only aerith and barret got a new weapon in midgar in the original and aeriths had to be stolen from a rare enemy

It's quite normal for sequels to not have transfers like that.

Doesn't Cloud get a sword in one of the elevators? Stolen from a soldier I think, 2nd or 3rd class.

Do you also not bother finding items in, say, God of War because you have to start with a fresh character in God of War Ragnarok?

These are completely separate games that are sequels to eachother. They have nothing to do with "disks". Both Remake and Rebirth were disk 1 in the original game.
Unlike the original game, they are treating each game as its own thing. So nothing major transfers over, that said you get a couple bonus items if you have an old remake save. But nothing else, no levels, or items or gear.
why would you kneecap your own enjoyment over your own misunderstanding of what the game series is? That's like watching The remake of "The Fly" with no sound on.
Why is flashback Cloud stronger than current Cloud?

my response would be the god of war games are independent titles. but like you know this.
my understanding was that the ff7 remake was going to be a remake of the entire games but sold into parts. each one being a continuance of the last. since it is just 1 story an original game cut up into sections.

lol good question

They would have to balance it around your power and equipment at the end of Remake, which would make it difficult for people to just jump into Rebirth without necessarily playing Remake or having their save file. For example, if you played Remake on PS4 and want to play Rebirth on PC, you wouldn't have a save. You can expect Part 3 to do the same.

We'll just go with Cloud had Mako poisoning after that flashback. So he had to start from scratch again to rebuild his strength when he recovered.

Cause that was Zack, not Cloud in that flashback. And Cloud was actually the surviving Shinra trooper. Cloud is misremembering due to Mako poisoning. Don't get mad at me, they made an entire prequel starring Zack and Cloud guest starring as a Shinra trooper. It's also later clarified in original FF7.
I mean, if you want to deliberately refuse to engage with the game to ensure you get as little out of it as possible... well, that's your prerogative.
