FFVII Rebirth Piano Imput Problems (Mistery Solved)
Hi everyone, I've been having some problems with the imputs of the piano mini game and I wanted to see if anyone else has had them.
Thing is, whenever I try to play and move the stick to the correct place, it sometimes registers a different note. I would literally move the stick downwards and the game would register that I also moved it upwards to the corner, for example.
I don't know if it's because of my controllers, but I also tried it with the keyboard and I had the same problem.
I know it's not me perse cuz I played this game on PS5 and I got A's and S's in all songs.
So, I'd really appreciate if anyone has any advice on this. Thanks!!

Edit: found out that the resolution of my game affected the input delay, and that's why it gave me the wrong notes. Besides, I was playing in a bigger monitor (a TV) than normally. So, once I changed to the monitor I actually use, it was miles better. Guess I should've known earlier

Works fine for me, but i saw that the controller sticks jump around some times, there is a dead zone but you can see it that when i move it back that it moves to other directions.

No problems you mentioned on my keyboard here
there is a keyboard layout of the piano in another thread look up for it, or just use the ps5 controller on the pc via Cable and you can play the game with Controller.

I'll check it out and try it. Anything to make things better.
The problems is that the PS5 was borrowed, so I don't have the controller. Might buy one tho they are expensive where I live. Thanks very much

Happy that it doesn't happen to you, maybe it's just me. I'll still look around and check. Nice day!!

As far as I can tell the game is a heck of a lot more forgiving about 'misclicks' when performing a score. However in free play I find them practically unavoidable.

I reckon one way to solve this would be to set huge inner deadzones on your thumbsticks using steam input. This will stop your thumbstick pushes from registering until you are nearer to the edge, giving each note a wider berth. Definitely not ideal for normal gameplay.
I’m definitely having the same issue. It’s not a matter of missing the timing. And it’s not the controller or keyboard. I’ve tried both. Definitely there are certain notes of the song that consistently don’t register the correct key. It’s like it glitches out and registers 2 different keys at the same time.

Ok I’m not sure what I did. I went back and for between keyboard and controller a couple times with no chance. I went to the steam menu and back to game a couple of times with controller and tried again and it’s fixed. The controller input for the piano is supposed to be very forgiving. But it was like registering two inputs at same time. Wonder if this was an issue with steam input? Using an 8bitdo pro controller on xInput setting (registers as Xbox controller on steam)

If your using an official xbox controller windows should detect it and use it. There is no reason to enable steam input unless a game doesn't support it. I've found having it on in some games interferes with things. Happened many times with NFS unbound but that game opens in another launcher which also causes problems .

But yea the piano is kinda tricky in general using the analog sticks you kinda gotta flick them instead of pushing. I was able to get A's atleast for now so far.

I have had the exact opposite "problem". If my aim is off by like 30 degrees (such that I hit an adjacent note), I've noticed that the game will just "let me have it". Even if an adjacent note is the one that's lit up, the actual correct note will get a hit-confirm. It's like aim-assist.

I'd prefer to not receive a gimme if it's a skill-issue, but I'm grateful that the game seems to be considerate enough to act like I'm a maestro.

I wouldn't mind going to keyboard for this part, if the UI made sense and wasn't clearly designed for twin-stick. I've played GMod Piano, and I've given FFXIV Bard performances. A keyboard that looks like a keyboard would be fine, but that's probably a "me" problem.
