Why is the game so ugly?
No matter what settings I try it looks blurry compared to other games even on max settings and the lighting is also pretty bad.

I remember playing it on PS5 on performance mode and this PC version barely looks any better. It's disappointing.

PC version looks incredible on mine 🤔
set dlss both min and max to 100 and it shouldnt be blurry anymore
I agree with this, i was watching a couple scenes in the beginning and it definitely looks like a late PS4 games. lighting is terrible, ambient occlusion and shadow maps are like non existent and texture quality isn't great tbh. Things look flat. I think smaller scenes and "focused" scenes look really well done, (think Remake part 1 at the opening train scene), but overall I think what you're saying is valid.

The blurriness is just what modern games look like, due to the graphics engineering meta.

Lighting is a commonly leveled criticism in both FF7 reboot games. Nighttime looks really nice, but daytime is kinda washed.

PC version isn't just for framerate, though. There's also ultra background detail (meaning less pop-in), and of course the ability to edit the game files and inject custom shaders, so it's possible to change how the game looks to some degree.

turn on dsr and turn off the taa see if that helps

It’s likely dynamic scaling combined with unattainable FPS limit/target.

This should help.

By enabling DLSS and setting both minimum and maximum to 100%, you’re basically activating DLAA... and wow, combined with the game set to ultra, it’s absolutely incredible (other upscalers, including DLSS up to Quality, are a bit blurry)

But with DLAA, it’s one of the most amazing games it’s definitely earned a place in my benchmark suite.

probably because of entitlement
Depends on system. I played on my PS5 Pro with PSSR enhancements and my pc def runs it far better and cleaner with higher detail (dlss AA)
@OPA

.. are U for .. REAL 😏 ??
Blurry can be solved by rendering at higher resolution using DSR.
