Is it even possible to beat Titan right away?
Because I start to feel it’s like banging my head against a wall. Not being able to use items also doesn’t help at all.

Change the difficulty to dynamic. It will scale its stats to your lvl and make it mor bearable
It will actually not do this.

Dynamic Difficulty only scales enemies below your level up to your level while enemies above your level are still above you. This means that unlike normal difficulty you can never be over leveled, only equal or under leveled.

Titan can be dealt with by Cloud's Punisher mode and perfect blocks for attacks that aren't melee nature. It builds a ton of stagger on him. Use Barrett, too, to tank and draw aggro. Try to have Aero on everyone and once you break his shield have them all nuke Titan from on top of Aerith's Arcane Ward. You can follow up with a Synergy Abililty at that point or save it for the next time he gets staggered to win. You don't do any real dmg until you stagger him so using Cloud's Punisher is key. Alternatively, you can perfect block with Barrett/Red XIII, though Red XIII's animations are rather lengthy so he isn't as good at it as the tanky Barrett, imo.

it's DOABLE but going to the shrines to commune with him in order to unlock the easier fights that level his materia is better, after two shrines you'll have access to easier tiers of the fight.

Depend. Like Shin said, you could just do the shrine side quest and you can fight him at the weakest.
