Some of these side quests are terrible time wastes.
Most quests do a pretty good job at telling you where to go. Some however, like finding all of Johnny's materials "near the zip line" are actually scattered in a huge search area and the game gives you no details where to look. I looked up the locations on YouTube and everyone was equally aggravated. MARK. QUEST. LOCATIONS. SE!!

Just wait until you see FF16 side quests.

So far they were mostly going to a map location and either killing one small group of weak enemies or picking up an item from the floor, then teleporting to the quest giver and being rewarded a pathetically small amount of currency.

Literally no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point in these being in the game.

You have it backwards...having to search is a GOOD THING. And the zip lines are easy to see. Maybe you need more yellow paint?

I am fine with the side quests, they get you moving across the map, poking you to explore.

What I am disliking is the sheer amount of mini games you have to go through. Sometimes my completionist nature really works against me. I thought the Yakuza games were a bit much for this, this is so much more compact with mini games.

The later FF games have a lot of them.
The OG FF7 had a lot of side quests and stupid minigames.
Making completing a minigame with the "best time" or you can't progress the story is moronic.

No, most people agree with me that aggravation =/= good game play. I don't have a lot of time and I will not waste it by running around aimlessly. Fortunately SE listened and marked most quests because nobody likes just being lost all the time. You also don't look cool by acting like you don't use guides.

The sit-up mini game was fun with good rewards. Didn't care at all for Running Wild. I am still early in the game and I hear there's a lot more to come.

This game feeds my urge to get the max reward on a minigame before I can move on.
Remember when (not just Final Fantasy) RPGs had zero quest markers except for a line of text saying "go to this area"? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Kids these days with no sense of adventure or wanting to put in effort before getting a reward.

I remember the days when you didn't have side quests. If you needed a few levels, or needed to unlock a skill, you farmed/grind-ed for it.
Hurr durrr back in my day

Y'all sound dumb people like quest markers get over it.

Your playing an RPG and complaining about time is insane. I think you have the wrong genre.

Well my plan is to skip all side quests and mini games. This is a long game and not 100% material.

I'll focus on the main story, see what happens. By my standards, FF7 Remake was a solid 7/10 game and I'm expecting Rebirth to be worse.

Then again, I could be surprised by how good Rebirth is and do all the side quests, but that is highly unlikely...

On the other hand, I've never seen a FF with good side quests. Or a JRPG with good side quests. Unless you count Yakuza as a JRPG...

No, I have the right one. I choose to enjoy the time I have, not looking for something the game should tell me. Every other side quest marks where to go, don't change up and act like an Indiana Jones quest hide everything from me all of a sudden. Ain't doing it.

Yeah FFXVI basically feels like playing an MMO which sin't surprising since it was made by largely the same team. Not my thing.
