FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

The mini games are killing this for me.
For clarification, it’s been decades since I played the OG FF7. God I feel so old saying that.

I remember the original having ‘mini-games’. I have been enjoying Rebirth so far, and just dealing with the mini-games as they come. However, today I arrived at Costa Del Sol.

The constant collection of mini-games just totally killed the flow of the game for me. The entire Costa Del Sol just felt like one huge chore.

And whatever that football game was with Red XIII, was just awful.

The fact that you do all of this, right off the back of a Blood Queen tournament makes it all the more annoying.

Yes. You can forfeit the tournament. But momma didn’t raise no quitter. So despite me being terrible at Blood Queen, I persisted until I won stuff that I’ll never use. Except… maybe the Assess earrings. And an achievement to permanently remind me of the ordeal.

Has anyone else felt the same about these mini-games, or is my age just starting to show?

Please tell me this is the worst of it and I can just get back into the actual game.

Idk I'm in love with Queen's Blood then again you have to be a fan of Gwent to appreciate it. The rest are ehhh especially the Ubisoft tower climbing ones and the treasure hunts.
Being a chess fan made me like it. The control over the center, taking out their cards, buffing/debuffing your cards. Really cool game.

I honestly suggest people who dont like them to just not do them, aside from protorelic (which does have minigames in it), nothing powerful isnt locked behind them. Like, you get usually something like a new materia an hour or two earlier than you would by buying it or some mediocore accesory.

Side content thats more worthwhile is the battle intel, battle arenas, chadley and some of the sidequests.
And for people who are concerned about doing things for completion's sake but find some of the minigames cancerous, they could always just download a trainer to automatically complete them. I can't stand Queen's Blood, so I'm just using a cheat to give me max score each time and just mash through it.
I think smart phones and modern gaming gave everyone ADHD.

I really don't understand why. You aren't completing anything, you're just cheating to make the game lie and say that you completed it. But nobody cares if you 100% the game except you, and you know it's lying. So... why?? You might as well write "100%" on a little piece of paper and hold it over the completion stat.
When you take 1/3 of a 1997 psx game's story and try to stretch it over 100 hours, your going to get filler that wastes your time.
Minigames were awesome when the original game, FFVII 1997, came out. A lot of us got one game or so a year, so having neat side games within a game to play was a selling point.
Now we have 100 games we want to play, so time wasting side content feels bad
Currently the hardest minigames for me at Piano and the boxing game.

Queens blood took some rounds too learn but after that it's been relatively easy. There hasn't been a queens blood fight that I've left.

The old minigames in PS1 version took far longer to complete and demanded far more of your time if you wanted to farm them.
I also got burned out on mini games, need a break lol.

Japanese devs like Square Enix have a tendency of NOT respecting the players time like other AAA studios in the industry. Towers, lifesprings, summoning crystals, excavation hunts, capturing moogles, and many other forms of intel gathering for Chadley are all unnecessary tasks in each regions that are all objectively bloat.

I can give them slack on the excess mini games as these were all present in the original game. There was so much content in the original FF VII that you were never expected to complete most of the content. However, all this artificial bloating that has been added on top of this already excess content is just too much at certain times of the story.

Obviously, if you have grown overly-attached to the story and characters of final fantasy, i can see how these players can just sit there and play 150 hours undeterred by the games horrible pacing.
What I hate is how slow Cloud and other characters are outside of combat. When you go activate a tower he takes forever to climb the rope. Like if the movement wasn't so slow, some of these side quests wouldnt be so boring.
Queens Blood and Fort Condor are great, the rest are various shades of wishing I could shut off the completionist part of my brain so I could ignore them. Even mediocre mini games would be a decent change in pace, but you cant turn around in this game without bumping into a new mini game.

The OG's mini games were at least spaced enough apart that they were not constantly disrupting the flow of the game.

This guy can practically fly in cutscenes, yet takes 30 seconds to slowly siddle along a wall, slowly jump from yellow ledge to ledge. I think SE is copying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in other games that no one likes
Ubisoft has ruined open world games, they were too successful with the casual audience and now that style of do mindless activity on world map crap in infesting everything.

I forgot about Fort Condor. Absolutely hate it. It was a whole lot better in the Remake than it is in Rebirth.
I turned on easy mode every single time because you are not allowed to do any mistakes in it.

Huh? You know the "minigame hub" is still ahead of you. It's called gold saucer. But you don't have to play any of them. Just press start and cancel.
Football game was fun, in fact i need to return to that for some more.
