This is what happened when the new generation of gamers started being a thing.
Zero patience and must complain about everything.
I absolutely understand complaining when things are badly balanced or performance/porting issues, but... these mini games really aren't an issue to be complaining about..
You only need to do 3 of the whole lot. 3. That amounts to a whopping 4 minutes. If 4 minutes is too much, then stop playing games and ruining things for the rest of us who actually enjoy games.
You seem to think I am really young or something, guess what when FF7 came out people hated the mini games then as well. Fort Condor, Dolphin, sector seven escape, chocobo race and great glacier chief among them. One thing you can say about them though is they would be pretty far apart. In Rebirth my complaint is I don't like them, the unskippable ones are all forced together with almost no actual game play in-between them and there is no skip like in cut scenes. They offer no challenge they are just a time sink let me have the option to skip em.
I agree, the pacing is abysmal. Basically if a section is ten minutes long in the original then it's an hour in the remake. It's tiring especially when what you're dealing with is padding rather than meaningful content. It's appealing to the deeply flawed logic that game length and value for money are the same thing, rather than the quality of the content itself. I also kind of hate the combat, it's far too convoluted for real time combat and doesn't feel intuitive at all. It's like they've tried to convert everything that was in the original regardless of whether it still works between transitions. And no, it's not a skill issue. I'm progressing through the game, I'm just not enjoying it. FF7 Remake had similar issues but I enjoyed it enough to get 100% achievements. Rebirth feels like it's taken everything I didn't like in remake and dialled it up to 11. Costa Del Sol is a good example. Making me play silly mini games just to get to the beach and move the plot along is daft. I hate card games so making it compulsory to progress didn't fill me with joy.
you only have to do 2 in costa, you can manage that. it is true to the spirit of the original game so if you don’t like it just play something else
Card game in 8 and 9 are optional. Card tournament in 9 is almost entirely optional. Hunting festival in lindblum ties into the main mechanics of the game. Chocobo Forest and all that its all optional.
If youre not willing to lame out springs/shrines/browser game crap you miss out on like half the entire content in this game. Theres mobile/browser game crap iin actual quests.
People back then didnt mind it because it WAS NOT THERE.
Cope and seethe, 50% of the game is complete trash that i could play by googling "minigame to play in browser". Its ridiculous.
Yeah games tend to make in world card games so they can put them on mobile and monetise it. Gwent comes to mind but there was probably another that came first.
wild take, the original ff7 had a lot of minigames that were mandatory to the story. this is a remake of ff7, so for you to expect that they won’t be here is just a dumb opinion to have
And after leaving the ship you are forced to play the game. And besides that, you are also forced to watch cutscenes for all that stuff, i.e. on the ship, you have to speak with this and that and watch this after quiting the tournament. You have to skip a looooooot of useless dialogues and cutscenes just to get back to the action, or a meaningful step in the story.
ff games have a lot of cutscenes, we like it. you new to ff games?
you only have to do a few minigames in costa and you don’t even have to win iirc. the boat card event can be skipped. maybe you should just uninstall and play a game that you prefer instead of crying that you bought a game that you didn’t research enough
