Literally what a sequel is... lol
Calling it a remake of FF7 would be disingenuous. As its really a sequel in disguise that fully expects you to have played the original game.
se·quel
/ˈsēkw(ə)l/
noun
noun: sequel; plural noun: sequels
a published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one.
Sequel doesn't mean a stand alone story.
And btw here is the product description on the steam page.
"The Unknown Journey Continues... After escaping from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey across the planet. New adventures await in a vibrant and vast world in this standalone entry to the FFVII remake trilogy!"
What I'm saying is that you don't know what a sequel is lol
