I've installed it straight to the Deck's memory storage, not the SD card. I've done what I can to optimize it on the deck and its not even a passable experience. (even going as far as tricking the game into using DLSS) I can play this game on PC, and its generally where I do play it, but I wanted to play it on deck too and was surprised it had a deck verified.
one of the criteria that must be met for it to be deck verified is that it runs well on default graphical settings right out of the box, which is doesn't do. even with graphical fiddling for the lowest settings you will find it struggle to run at a stable frame rate or without crashing.
Please understand that there is no way to objectively defend their decision to mark it as deck verified.
Have you tried it out with Proton experimental? I saw somebody mention that Rebirth runs much better with it.

Please note that the topic is not about how to try to optimize the deck with third party or external sources. It is that by default the game does not deserve the verified badge, because it doesn't qualify under the criteria set for how it should function right out of the box.
I've turned everything down to low and minimum 50% resolution and framerate goal/cap of 30. I'm also playing this on an internal 2GB SSD with no mods.
It's playable and a decent experience for what I've experienced. I've tested it in spots up away to chapter 4 while playing on my main rig when at home.
It absolutely goes under 30, but I haven't seen too much under 25. It can get a bit fuzzy at times, including looking at character faces or fine detail.
It's not an amazing experience, but it's doable when I'm out waiting to pick up my son or getting farther in the game on my lunch break. Sure, I'd like for it to be pin-sharp and 60+ FPS, but given the concessions of the Steam Deck and a max 15W TDP: I believe it to be serviceable. It does some things really well though: the text is easy to read, button prompts are clear, and it boots up decently fast for getting a bit in on the go.
I'm a bit in agreement though that "Playable" would be an acceptable verification though.
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
Playing this game on my Steam Deck OLED, when i got on the crowded places, my eyes hurt due to dynamic resolution, despite tinkering the settings like i already disabled character count & shadow distance, and i still got below 30 fps.
The First Remake game was more better than this.
