game won't start, help
Every time I try to start the game I get a message that reads this:

DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or-d3d12 command line argument.

I have no idea what any of this means or how to fix it. Words cannot describe my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ confusion.

It's talking about command line parameters. If you right click on the game, select Properties, select the General tab on the left (it's probably already selected), and look at the command line entry it should be blank.

The game REQUIRES DirectX 12, though. I don't think you'll see anything in there.

You can see if your PC supports DX12 by running DxDiag, which is an application on your PC. Just put DxDiag in the Windows search bar and it should pop right up. Run it, then look toward the bottom of the stats on the first tab. If it says DirectX 11, you need to get a refund.

I'm not seeing a command line entry. I ran a DxDiag test and saw DirectX 12 tho.

I would look at some of the guides that have been posted to fix this game but there isn't anything that is guaranteed to fix all of the problems.

I would recommend getting a refund at this point or waiting until an official patch comes out.

Are you on Windows Vista or something?
It's likely that you are trying to run the game with an unsupported gpu. Rtx or Amd equivalent is required due to shaders.

Your GPU doesn't have hardware support for mesh shaders and is therefore unsupported. You should have checked the hardware requirements before downloading.

More speficially the game requires DX12 Ultimate ,not just DX 12, and mesh shaders , which GTX NVIDIA and <5000 AMD do not support

What can I do about that?

Try this. Note that it only works for GeForce 16 series cards: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2909400/discussions/0/597390873150379395/

If that is not an option, then you will have to either upgrade your GPU or request a refund.

If that is not an option, then you will have to eihter upgrade your GPU or request a refund.
Thanks, I'll keep you updated for when I get a chance to do that.

I'm guessing by <5000 you mean any 5000 series models? I have an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. And if so, I'm guessing there's simply no workaround at all?

Nope, none at all, sadly. You would have to either upgrade your GPU or request a refund.
