Free roam as any character?

Hey guys

Last time I read an article about this game they said we would be able to free roam as any character once the story is finished… I remember being very excited about it, but looking online now people are saying no we can’t?

So… can we or can’t we?

Do you own the game on PS5 and have checked this yourself?

I cannot find any footage of people playing as other characters online (besides the parts in the story) yet everywhere I look states you can play as other characters outside of combat in chapter section.

One of my biggest gripes in the game (also that Cloud is permalocked as one of 3 party members for most of the game). Hopefully we'll get a mod at some point.

Full completion then you need to do NEw Game +

Even then It is limited to certain open areas. It will not over ride FORCED Cloud points he must be the main.

Cloud main story and decisions still done as cloud.

You can play cards with NPCS, but special Queens gambling must be done as cloud (Such as the ship)

Certain conflicts will switch BACK to cloud. Certain areas you will enter and switch to cloud. Others you can set another as main focus character. outside those.

remake had a mod that let you do this hopefully rebirth gets the same mod
