The combat
I don't get this combat. I am dodging and still getting hit regardless. I am doing combat simulator challenges that are harder than boss battles and three levels below me. What is the deal with not being able to dodge at times? I will see an enemy charging at me, dodge and get hit regardless.

I thought I would do this lvl 19 combat sim part and the final part in it spawns really strong enemies and even if I perfect block one I get hit by three others. What is the strat here? I don't remember having any issues in remake or it's DLC.

Why dodge when you can block with steadfast block equipped or especially using either Cloud or Red? Much more useful.
this isn't elden ring there are no iframes on dodging, it exists for movement only. use block to mitigate damage and if you time it right for a perfect block you can negate all incoming damage

So if I am playing Aerith and something is charging me is the best thing to do is nothing?

i just told you the best thing to do was to block.

with aerith you can also drop a ward down, move away from it, and then hit triangle to teleport to the ward to get away from danger

Why are you making this thread? You never played Remake and suddenly decided to play this game?

When did I say that? I have almost 60 hours in Remake and it's DLC what are you getting at?

You played almost 60 hours of a game that has the same combat and you still don't get it?

wow
here is an example of aerith soloing a particular summon later in the game. don't click it unless you are ok with spoiling which summon and what her abilities will be but she keeps perfect blocking and he can't do anything to her

yeah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaPmtPRN514

Use synch skill to guard her, or use block in perfect time.

The only attacks that need to be dodged are ones with red triangle, everything else its better to perfect block, or just block.

Just hush this game has different elements to it and it's been awhile since I played Remake. If you don't have anything good to say keep your internet tough guy stuff in your room all day with you.

Yeah I just beat a higher lvl one without issue so maybe something is going on here with this particular challenge that I am missing.

Not every game needs a dedicated button that makes you invincible for half a second on demand. This is not really an action game, it's more like a hybrid between the old ATB system but in real-time and with some action elements thrown in like timing blocks and (very simple) combo strings.

Moving is for positioning, the way you deal with most damage is mitigation and recovery, just like in a turn-based game. Some damage is not avoidable.

Well if you played Remake like 5 years ago and completely forgot everything about it then ok I guess.

The thread screams trolling for anyone who played Remake tho.

I got it. I just had to main Cloud, punisher, block counter and spam Braver. It was pretty easy then.

Yeah there's for sure a lot more in depth combat than like XV and XVI. I recently got done playing those and have had to adjust my mash x button play style for this game.
