2)roll and hold-attack to get into the air, like it told you early on
3)this is a part of it being an action combat system, knowing when to act matters, doing a long animation while the enemy is clearly coming to you is a gamble
i’m not gonna talk about 2 and 3 cause that’s just a get gud situation, except that if cloud dodges and then holds square he will leap to the enemy mid air. tifa can also get airborne via reverse gale and a synergy skill
but the reason they changed fc was because if they used it the same way it would take away from intergrade, it also was used for 4 fights so it doesn’t make sense to implement a whole collecting saga surrounding it, and it would also be boring to not change it up. let intergrade breathe and just appreciate that it is used in an interesting way, they gave us queens blood as the big minigame in rebirth
Of course this is ALL ASSUMING you assessed your enemies and know their weaknesses. Some fliers you have to bait into attacking in order to dodge and stagger. Remember despite how it plays, this game is more RPG than action slasher.
On top of that, the SHEER amount of mini games is excessive to a ludicrous degree. I'm enjoying the story moments more or less fine, and even some of the quests where it's meant to build a specific team mates relationship were alright, some have too many steps but were still fine. The problem is the ******* open world activities are both boring me and slowly killing my enjoyment.
I may need to take a break play something else for a bit and come back. Some might suggest just skipping that stuff but I have a problem feeling like it's intended to be done not just from a mechanics standpoint but also story and character building standpoint and I feel like I'm rushing or ruining minor plot points by doing that.
I do miss the old turn based combat. That is still what I'd prefer when all is said and done. Some fights have been neat to play through, but I'd rather have had that crap loot box version without said wallet grabbing and played like the original and less like an auto battler.
Square just ain't what it used to be, and it sucks. But that's a lot of companies now a days.
You do realize the whole look of the Fort Condor minigame is a tongue in cheek jab at Square's own low poly graphics from the first game, right?
Circle > Hold square > Mash Square > Braver (or whatever you want). Problem solved.
If they fly out of the middle of an air combo, you can just hit circle to airdash back up to them.
Also, Wind Materia. Basic Final Fantasy logic: Wind spells wreck flying enemies.
Are you just plowing through and skipping the side content so you're constantly underleveled?
This game isn't Monster Hunter or busted mascochism slop like Dark Souls. Enemies don't do overpowered damage with some very rare exceptions, usually gimmick attacks you're supposed to counter somehow.
Only bosses and the odd special variety enemy should be doing that kind of damage to you, and even then, only with their special attacks.
