Unable to sniff with my chocobo in second zone, dunno why

Hi
I'm in Junon region, I have the black chocobo, I go on treasure spots (using mapgenie) but no Q pops for sniffing. I can't sniff nothing outside of the first side quest of the zone, with the old man.

Do I need to progress in main story to be able to sniff the region?

I stumbled upon same problem, had to google a little deeper, not so popular bug it seemed.
So, you have to fast travel to different region and came back to trigger treasure hunt.
