Want to judge how well it runs on Steam Deck and my own rig before committing to giving Square Enix $60.

It's not a replacement for a demo because that requires me to have $60 to begin with.

And besides that, there's no demo completion bonuses like there are on PS5.

you get the demo bonus from watching twitch streams now. just put one on for an hr on your phone while you play this game and you can get it

If you lack the 60$ to try it for less than 2 hrs, then you would also lack the 60$ to buy if you like it. Your logic is silly. Shell out the 60$, try it, and refund if you don't like it.

Demos for games are rare. Don't expect games to have them.
