FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

Game tends to run into a blank screen or endless loading screen
I don't know if anyone else is encountering this, but with default settings, the game seems to have some issues even loading for me. The shader compiling screen will show up, I'll allow it to completely finish, click new game, and either I'll get a black screen with no intro cut screen, or the intro cut scene that transitions into an endless loading screen.

I haven't tried the -dx11 flag yet, though. I'll probably try that next.

Things I have tried:

* Updating the graphics drivers
* Rebooting the machine
* Verified the game files
* Shut down services/programs running in the background

Specs:

* CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K
* GPU: RTX 3070 TI
* RAM: 32 GB
* OS: Windows 11

I am having similar issue where it is crashing on start and gives me "Fatal Error" and infinite loading of the game on start. I have tried these steps too with no luck.
Tried dx11/dx12 launch options but no luck. Also low graphics settings didnt help either.

I was able to make it to the first playable part but then it just had texture issues and softlocked.
The game has a memory leak problem, nothing that the user can fix, we just have to wait for Square to release a statement.

please send a ticket to square enix support.
Idk if ifs a memory leak issue, as the memory usage seems pretty consistent through the freeze. but yea, this feels like something square needs to fix

thank god they actually did user testing on the steamdeck tho lmfao they clearly did cause it runs seamless there

Well, I got some progress in the game using the steamdeck, and now the game can load the save and the first scene fine on basically any graphics settings. But once it gets to an area where it needs to load a new scene, it soft locks.

Found a solution. Apparently the direcdrive drivers they shipped the game with are out-of-date, despite another recent title having the up to date ones.

You can find a mod here that will replace those drivers with the ones from another final fantasy game: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7rebirth/mods/47?tab=description
