FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

The game keeps freezing when entering the menu or when talking to an NPC
It's been frustrating. I've played for around 5 hours, and I only quit the game on my own accord once. The rest of the time, it crashed. The game keeps crashing when I enter the menu. It freezes and shows only a black screen. Sometimes, when I need to perform an action, like using an elevator or talking to an NPC, the dialogue never starts, and the game just stops. I can still move the camera, but I'm trapped in that moment. The only solution is to Alt + F4.

I'm running the game on a 6600 XT and a Ryzen 5600X on medium graphics, with the game installed on my M.2 drive. I've also updated my graphics card drivers to the latest version (25.1.1), but nothing seems to work. The game crashes randomly. Sometimes a few seconds into the game, other times a few minutes. I haven't been able to play for an hour straight without a crash.

It is a known issue with AMD 25.1.1

Yeah I know... I've seen it. Any idea how long they take to fix those kind of things?
I am having this same issue with RTX 2060 on my Razor Blade 15. Game is constantly softlocking when entering dialogue or menus or cutscenes.
I would suggest you try installing/running driver release 24.7.1. Since reverting back to that driver I have had zero issues with the game.

Exactly that. So softlocking is the word. Thanks for that. English is not my first language

I'm gonna try that now. I'll update later if it worked

Alright, tried it. Just when I thought I might be able to play the game for a long while, it softlocked. Took 37 minutes, and it happened :c

Try 24.8.1, that driver version has helped others.

Also, are you sure you are running the game from an SSD?

Yes, an M.2. The fastest type of SSD
It's a game issue not driver issue. I'm on RTX 2070 and it's happening to me constantly too. I save often but occasionally it locks up when I try to enter the start menu.

It's insufferable to be honest. Hope Square Enix fixes it quickly
I played for six hours today without issue after spending two days battling this softlocking.

I went into the Nvidia app > Graphics > Global Settings > Shader Cache Size and set it to 1 GB. The game seems to like this. Hopefully it works for some of you.

4070 Ti Super here. The Shader Cache Size change has worked with other games, though usually at "unlimited." I'll try it and report back.
No luck. Seemed like it lasted longer, but it was different terrain and time of day.
