Fatal error crash - Nibelheim
The game keeps crashing at what has become one of my least favorite parts, chapter 1 just after that annoyingly slow walk, and then the stupid interactive crawl when Sephiroth sets the town ablaze. Just after the cutscene at the end of the chapter, whether I skip it or go through the whole thing, super long load time, then fatal crash, every time.

Restarted the game a few times now, but still the same error. Is there any fix for this?

I also have the exact same issue. Patiently waiting on a fix.
my fatal crash happened at the very end of the flashback. I fixed it by moving my game to an SSD.

I can't even walk around town at the very start of Chapter one... game crashes but MORE times then not full blown PC crashes.. Square are some POS devs

Rebirth requires an SSD and I am surprised that so many are attempting to run the game from an HDD.

These post are never helpful without your specs. No one can even begin to advise you.

Edit: Please read the store page before purchase, Games are starting to require SSD and A LOT of people are downloading them on HDD and them complaining.

i run this on an hdd, got past it on accident while i was reading this. skipped the cutscene that happens after the crawling section and then i just tabbed out and stayed tabbed out and it didnt crash
First, please list your PC specs.

Second, try reporting the issue to actual Square Enix support by raising a support request.

"Fix your game!"

*Uses decade + hardware.

Come on guys. It's time to let go of your nasty toasters.

Had the same issue. I was able to get past it by setting my frame rate to 30. Hope that helps.
For me I was able to fix it by going into the AMD Adrenaline and then clicking on the game, here I turn off everything except Radeon Anti-lag.
Inside the game I also change the v-sync to VRR and cap the game to 60fps.
After that I was able to run it without any issues.
Same here, using i9-12900k with 6900xt and 128 G ram
I just put this on my post about this and this fixed my issue. Copied from someone else

"another thing to try, sometimes the way steam patches can screw up engine files (rare) but deleting the folder "binaries" from "*\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End" then verifying the game to replace it can potentially fix any bad files that were constructed improperly."

I'm at the Corel region and started crashing with the LowLevel Fatal Error since after the patch, one time it even rebooted my PC, specs are Ryzen 5 5800, AMD 7800 XT, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, never had a crash before the patch, come on Square.
