gear from FF7 remake
Why the hell am I having to gear back up and find materia from part one? Cheese tactic to add more playtime to your lame remake, don't need new characters and plot twist. Just call the game FF7-2 or FF7-X2, and for the follow-ups X3 and 4, because if this was part 2 or disc 2 you don't start over from scratch. I am so pissed at SE I don't think I'll ever buy another game from them.

It's to allow you to have a full spread of an RPG while fitting in and expanding on the original game. Some people want to cry so bad, wish they'd do that instead of whine on the Internet.

it’s the ff fanbase, they are just like this

about 20% of us are normal but the rest tend to be lolcows
Yeah, this surprised me, too. But Square Enix has gotten lazy about this. They used to have cross-game progression, even in such simple transitions as Life is Strange 1 to Life is Strange 2. It's not like it would have taken anything away from users who hadn't played Remake, they just didn't feel like making any kind of system to transfer progress beyond a check that sees if you get bonus materia.

imagine firing up rebirth at lv50 with all your materia maxxed and 3 gotterdammerungs

that sure sounds balanced to me
I mean, clearly there's no way the developers of Remake could have foreseen a sequel coming and balanced the endgame of Remake and the start of Rebirth accordingly.

they’re 2 different games, and they gave you an endgame power level in remake that felt great. you can’t do that and have cross progression

it’s a trilogy, you’ll get over it

Who cares? Play the game like a normal human, ya weirdo. Or download Cheat Engine and make yourself as op as you want.

Everything was insanely bloated from part 1. Where would your HP value go, and how would progression work when you come in with 7k+ HP, 100+MP and LVL3 Materias and stuff with 5+ slots from the get go?

Expect everything to get re done and more bloated for each entry.

Translation: Game was designed from the ground up for lazy penny pinching. It's the same game, same engine, same combat system, no save progression beyond a token materia.

And Remake is still bloated. You start the game one-tapping most things as Cloud who is supposed to be kind of a rookie. Even the original made his fights here pretty hard. He was underpowered. But they start you at level 40 even in a flashback? Come on.

YEA!

WHY DO I HAVE TO RESTART ALL MY COMBAT SKILLS IN MASS EFFECT EVERYTIME!!!???

WHY DOES ADOL NEVER CARRY OVER ANY POWER IN MY YS GAMES!!!???

WHERE THE FOOK DID KRATOS STASH ALL HIS GEAR BETWEEN GoW and GoW:R?????!!!!

Very very very few games actually do what you are referring to, some exceptions would be Trails series, Banner Saga, BG 1&2.

He was supposed to be 17 years old. He had been in a few engagements. He was not stronger in the past than he was in the future. Yes, I get that narratively it doesn't line up but that's literally the point of the story.

I would have liked the option to import my stuff from Intergrade, but whatever ....
