remake is not a bad game but for the story it is not worth the slog that it is to go through (very clunky gameplay and long linear dungeons that stretch for no reasons other than gametime padding.)
But what I would suggest you doing is jump straight into Rebirth and watch someone play Original/Remake at the same time, depending on how much time you can dedicate to it.
The thing is that Rebirth can potentially take up to 200 hours to complete and it's a far better game than everything that came out previously, so binging everything in one go may cause you to burnout, so playing Rebirth right away and watching someone play Remake during lunch or before bed may help you avoid it.
On the other hand, if you want to recognize every single reference and see why everyone is obsessed with what they're doing with remakes, then you should also play Crisis Core (PSP)/Reunion (PC remaster) as well so the order is going to be like this: Original -> Crisis Core/Reunion -> Remake -> Rebirth.
You should choose depending on whether you can wait or if the Remake/Rebirth is all you can think about right now
And as a bonus you don't have to hear Barret be the mascot for toxic masculinity every 5 seconds, between his bouts of screaming for MARLENE!
They made Barret a real person, not a joke in Rebirth.
It's just that I couldnt set my mind to play remake because I havent faithfully finish the original and its been so long that if I go back to original, I will have to replay it again from beginning
So im thinking if I play remake first.. I might have interest in trying original again and see how the rest of story unfolds..
Then start with Remake and watch someone play original or look up a "FF7 story in 5-10-15 minutes" video on youtube, it's not a bad option to save some time, don't be bothered by some obligations that you've came up with by yourself, I've been doing this my entire life and I can tell that it's kind of exhausting.
Who knows, maybe you'll decide to take a break after playing Remake and then will suddenly feel a desire to play original. It's totally an option considering that Remake ends on escaping Midgar, which you've covered in the original already
So yeah you could watch a video but going through it yourself is a better experience imo.
Ah so you also played the original first but only through Midgar then jump to remake right away? And then you went back to replay the original before rebirth again?
Yeah but it's not like I planned it that way exactly at least not with Remake. Way before Remake was even announced I had played the OG a little past the Midgar part but stopped. I tried again with mods a little later and I was having a good time with it but then it was crashing right after the Midgar part when getting to the open world so I gave up. The 7th Heaven MM was still fairly in it's infancy as well as the mods. Right before Rebirth came out I decided to try again. The mods are even better now and more stable so playing through the whole thing was no problem.
Go and watch rebirth on youtube too !

I mean if you want to enjoy the rebirth you have to play intergrade.
It's not just about story , characterization is much more important than story.
You'll miss that.

Edit:
Oh my bad , now i get it.
You mean original ff7 not the intergrade.
Sorry😁

In this regard i'd say just play the intergrade and rebirth and episode 3 whe it released.
You can go back to og and play it later , og is another game,
Remakes are just reimaginations of the 1997's game.
