For all my fellow Ultrawide supporters, here is a fix!

Just wanted to share it between my fellow ultrawide monitor enjoyers: https://github.com/Lyall/FF7RebirthFix

Installation is literally done in 10 seconds, just drag the files to your game folder.
The only noticable bug is a black box appearing for a second whenever a Menu is opened, but so far it didn't bother me really and the game is a beauty in ultrawide.

Just don't forget to go into your options, change scrren to window, change resolution to 3440x1440 and going back to fullscreen for the correct render resolution :)

Scanned myself via Windows Defender and no detection either. You probably have outdated Windows Defender definitions and is picking up false positives. Updates Windows and try again.

Lyall is also a prominent dev along with Rose that has created tons of other open source mods for other games in the modding community. All part of Flawless Widescreen.

Yeah that's why I was wondering myself, I know his work and wouldn't have thought that he uploads anything malicious.

One question: there Is no fullscreen. Only borderless fullscreen. So once installed your mod, i should change screen to Window and then to borderless fullscreen?

Not working here with 3440x1440. Getting no options for that resolution after applying the fix (Also not in windowed mode.)

Yes, switch to window, change the resolution there to your ultrawide resolution and then switch back to borderless.
It's unfortunately a small oversight from the devs

Just a false positive, sadly this is very common with microsoft defenders machinelearning and github. Of course still be cautious, but generally if its a well known github person and defender spews out wacatac!ml its machine learning tagging it.

Sadly it isn't :( I tried to replace the files and double checked the right location for the game folder. Getting no option to change the resolution to the 21:9 options...

EDIT: Works now, i've verified the files and followed the procedure again. Thanks all!

Did you try setting game to windowed mode first and then choosing the display resolution? You should be able to select your ultrawide display resolution once you change it to windowed mode.

Please, I am not the creator of that small mod, it was someone else, I am just here to spread it for all who need it :)

But truth be told: shame on Square Enix and the dev team for not implementing simple ultrawide support.
I mean it can't be THAT hard if a modder is able to give us almost perfect support just about 2 hours after the release of the game and a file which is smaller than most basic textfiles nowadays.
