unplayable with ssd.. misleading specs.. textures don't load in properly and use full disk usage.. they need to fix
edit: replacing the ssd with a pcie 4.0 nvme 6000mb drive mitigated the issue by a ton, but its still not completely fixed. No more disk spikes. So this is the answer.. you do need to by an nvme and if you still have minor issues at moments it could be that you need a fast nvme or your cpu and gpu are having trouble. Maybe a combo of all 3. Sucks i had to buy an nvme but i see the new doom coming in May requires one so it's gonna be the new standard anyway..

I've been trouble shooting forever and there is simply nothing i can do because i don't have an nvme.. some have softlocks because of this issue.. it runs great other then that.. Devs should have made it clear you need an nvme or textures will be mud every time you turn your camera.. wasn't noticeable until i got to the point of not being able to refund.. real nice..

no problem on my ssd so you probably have some other issue bottle necking you, or maybe you have a slow ssd with no cache?

Had the same issue- It was a bit fixed when i put texture on medium and shadow distance on 5 - texture still load a bit slow.

I also downloaded this fix: https://github.com/Lyall/FF7RebirthFix
but didnt tested it yet - may it helps

it has 550 mb speed and its the only game that has ever had this issue.. i've installed it on both of my drives and they do the same thing.. i've tested 10 games and none go past 20 percent disk usage unless they load an area.. this game does it almost constantly even at 120 fps with 3080 and 32gb ram

i've tried on all settings.. it doesn't matter. which file exactly are you specifying? the map fix? theres a bunch of files listed and i'm not sure where to put them.. i'm not great with mods.
do you not have a NVMe drive to test if the issue is SATA or your SSD?

do you know how to force texture recompile? i wanna try again setting control panel cache to unlimited.. i don't know what else to do at this point..

no.. i've tried two ssd's.. both are bad.. i don't even know if i can put an nvme in my mobo tbh.. i was under the impression that ssd's were fine. they have always been fine and if they aren't the devs should say you need and nvme. specs list "ssd"

You mean the shader cache it creates on first load?

prob this (i'm guessing but try moving this file out and reloading?)

yeah.. i've tried that one and the compiler only took a few seconds for whatever reason.. i'm pretty sure it was much longer then that the first time.. there must be files elsewhere.. either way it didn't work and i'm at a loss.. i'm not the only one either.. what's the transfer speed on your ssd?

i've also been troubleshooting with another person and i thought they had an ssd.. they are using an nvme and have the same issue and went through all the steps i did.. his specs are much better then mine to..it's a bug on square enix's end.. i'm not sure why it's affecting some and not others.

560 read (870 evo 2tb).

So are you saying out in world you move camera and get blurry unloaded textures?

yeah, mine is a 560 exactly. yeah, the more you play the worse it gets and you can see your disk spike to 100%. Even going back with a new game the first section when you're in the town is now muddy when moving camera when it wasn't before.. same thing happened to the guy on another forum i troubleshot with. it's as if a set of textures go from 1p to normal within a split second.

oh i do get this, if you mean the LOD's change from low to high just as you turn the camera.

This is mitigated somewhat by turning 'background model detail' to ultra in gfx settings though.

This was present on ps4 too but way worse.

its likely how they got it running pretty well in terms of fps.. its a very aggressive LOD system that makes anything out of view super low res and low model poly, but its possibly too aggressive especially with closer objects. If they change it it will for sure lower everyone's fps though.

Sounds like you could be running out of VRAM or your SSD could be failing.
