I noticed this too.

HDR works fine for me. Note that the first chapter has a specific kind of color tone for the flashback memory, but you will notice the lights and certain occasional colors pop hard with HDR on. If you aren't sure try after you get past chapter 1, post flash back, and are in Kalm.

Could also be an issue where you need to set HGIG on your display if the HDR mapping is wrong like some games fail with regards to.

HDR slider does not reflect changes while in menu for me too but as soon as I am back in game there is a difference

It's probably because there's usually a separate HDR setting for GUI elements, but this game just has the setting that effects highlights in game, that's why it doesn't appear to do anything in the menus.

Also in case anyone is wondering, i'm pretty sure HDR luminance 10 = 1000 nits as i checked the .ini file and mine said 1000, so if you have a lower nit monitor then adjust accordingly, 9 = 900, 8 = 800 etc.

Not sure what people with a higher nit monitor are meant to do though, unless you can edit the .ini.

I wish their was a saturation option. That's one of my favorite features of RTX HDR or in games like Elden Ring.

This is the only reason I prefer an in game toggle for HDR. So I have some options. RTX HDR is way better than say.. Returnal's default HDR.

You can set saturation in the Windows HDR calibration tool, which every single person with a HDR monitor should be using. Only downside is that it's global and not per game.

Oh nice I need to check that out when I get home. Thanks!

Yeah basically you use it to set up a colour profile for HDR mode, you adjust your peak brightness, black levels and set a custom colour saturation, many games without proper HDR settings use this profile to apply the correct settings, like peak nits etc.

I personally set my saturation to 70/100 which some might argue is too high, but it makes colours pop a lot more ;)

Try changing the hdr setting when in the in game menu, the cloud's weapon edge shows the setting effect. Also the game seems to be using limited dynamic range. When nvdia driver output is set to limited and the monitor/tv also at limited, then black shadows are almost black at 0 brightness setting. At full dynamic range image is too bright (blownout). At least with oled tv.

Will try if it will make a difference setting .ini to 1300 nits but the ini seems not be used at all as it has wrong resolution settings as last known settings

For me, the HDR menu slider changes were very obvious. May be a bug if it is not showing any difference for some of you.

for me games' HDR does not work unless I can run the game in exclusive fullscreen. I had the same problem with elden ring and could only get hdr at 4k rez in fullscreen it was dumb. The slider did nothing for me despite HDR clearly being on as well. Might be the same issue. The remake does the same thing unless I fullscreen it, then HDR works fine. Idk ♥♥♥♥♥ wack theres no fullscreen option but meh.

Slider shows no difference in menu but in game it works, tested streaming via steam link and local, all monitors\tvs do have HDR. As the slider uses 100th step no need to check in game, I set to 10 as this is still less peak brightness than my tv has.
I just found out you have to enable Auto HDR in windows then the slider works for me in game. Hope that helps
