Black screen crash after entering menu

It happened a few times already. I'm playing and sometimes i see a texture not loading correctly then after i press the menu button the game just froze in a black screen. All i can do is open the administrator and close the game.

My PC:
i9 14900k.
64GB RAM DDR5.
GPU: RTX 4080 super.
M.2 Samsung 990 pro 2TB.

Any solution to this bug?

Sadly, we have to wait for a true fix i guess, i don't understand this though...

When games released on discs back then they would have fixed everything before release,, but as soon as everything became digital,,, they always release buggy games,,,, with the need for day one patches or hotfixes.....


Thi simply wasn't a thing back in the day when things released on discs, the game had to run otherwise it wouldnt sell ...

Now they simply release half baked ports and games to hotfix it days later !!

Its odd im using a 3070ti and havent encountered any issues. I have DlSS on 100 max 66 min with everything on high besides textures at medium and i get between 80-120 FPS depending on location. I haven't encountered the black screen bug. Im using Windows 11 23H2. I have VRR on since I use Gsync. Just posting in case it helps narrow down any issue.

Edit: Im about 8 hours playtime so far.

I had this mid-fight, 2 minutes after starting the game, as well just now. I have almost the same specs as you, only difference worth mentioning seems to be my RTX 4090 here.

I'm starting to feel like this is "another one of those" Square Enix ports here..

Same issue, only once so far. Happened in Kalm shortly after a Queens Blood match so I had a recent save fortunately. Music continued playing but I did not hear any command sounds. AMD 6900XT

Yeah, that's exactly the issue I was having. I was really worried there for a second. Last time I had a monitor turning off while the music was still playing my GPU died. I thought that one just died too.. this almost gave me a hearth attack.

I have a 4090 and a 12900k and I can't even get past shader compilation on startup

yep same here. Textures would fail to load in so i would go to the menu and just get a black screen. Forcing me to restart, Happens every 30-45 minutes. The annoying part is the game itself is running fine in terms of FPS, its just this texture and black screen glitch.

yeah performance wise the game runs surprisingly well, sure im on 1080p but my 6700xt can manage high at 60fps most of the time, seems like just a nasty bug that prevent the game from load further assets and just soft locks the game

yeah performance wise the game runs surprisingly well, sure im on 1080p but my 6700xt can manage high at 60fps most of the time, seems like just a nasty bug that prevent the game from load further assets and just soft locks the game

yeah i was so happy when i was actually running the game at high settings and 1440p just for it to have these glitches making it pretty much unplayable. Really unfortunate.

verifying my game files pretty much fixed the problem for me. Only gotten one since i started doing it so.

The black screen bug happens each 15 to 30 minutes !!!

Restarted the game 17 times now

Same issue, think I might even have a bugged save now. After getting to the grasslands it'll break every few minutes. Cutscenes won't load, I'll be walking then suddenly can't go forward almost like lag spikes in an online game. Black screen when trying to enter the menu.

What's really strange is alt-f4 shuts the window but the game keeps playing in the background and I have to force stop through task manager.

tried adjusting settings, verified game files... etc, all kinds of things. still crashes.

This is a terrible port, hopefully there's an update soon.

Not entirely sure why, but after a few crashes and progressing the game a little (got to the chocobo farm), the game never crashed again for me - not even a single time.

No idea what I did that fixed it.

yeah same my game was good for quite a while as well after progressing. They have started up again after reaching a new region but they're not as bad as they were back in the earlier parts.
