Any way what im trying to say is that this game is alot of fun but nothing can beat that absolutely mind boggling leap in gaming. maybe one day kids
Characters can equip different weapons, armor (bangles) and accessories. The weapons and armor have materia slots, and just as in the original game you can equip materia you find or purchase in those slots to get different spells and abilities. The materia levels as you play, unlocking more powerful spells. You have a dedicated summon slot for each character.
Each character has 7 weapons, I believe, but they aren't strictly upgrades to each other. Each one has different strengths and weaknesses.
It's still very similar--you can still find materia, weapons, and armor around the world and "socket" the materia into your gear slots. However, keep in mind that this game is pretty much the middle 1/3 of the game, so the ultra-powerful, end game stuff isn't really in here yet (I'm hoping for Knights of the Round in part 3!!!)
Also, combat is no longer turn based but (imo) it feels more interactive and more fun this way. It felt weird at first for me, but then I realized that the real-time action made the fights more immersive and less tiresome.
Completely different. The equipment and materia is similar, but the combat is much different, although the names of everything are familiar. The combat is good, I liked it in remake.
But it's better than Remake, that's for sure.
However, combat was immediately rather impressive. They took Remake's combat and definitely overhauled it in a positive more action oriented yet tactical way. Cloud has actual combos with various uses from his basic attack (not just ATB commands) plus he can chain his abilities (ATB commands) with them in various ways like Braver after doing a dodge Aerial combo gain dmg for being higher up. In addition, you can actually use abilities airborn here unlike Remake. Just off his basic combos Cloud has something like 5-6 different types of techniques he can perform.
Sephiroth had a lot of depth, too, but I actually liked Cloud's more other than Sephiroth's slick teleport.
Nice to see that you still need to think about the equip/weapon/materia system.
I played alot FF titles but with the ages it became to much arcade fight and it felt more like watching a movie. Thats why i wanted some answers from players who played both titles.
@everyone else
Yes i can google it up but i made a post cause its not that much important to be answered in few second.
Why you even put in effortt trying to answer my question but badly failed with providing a correct answer or information about the question?
There's a bunch of questionable choices though, and some systems were better in the first remake than this one imo.
Materia system was better in OG as well for me, it feels like they're trying to limit OP combos as much as they can.
But they put so much work into designing unique battles, challenges, and optional bosses, that it actually ended up with WAY more depth and unique battles than the OG. I feel if they put that much effort into real turn-based it could have been just as good... but for the direction they went I'd say it was a good compromise, and I'd even go so far as to say it's the best combat system Final Fantasy ever had just by virtue of the work and polish, and the series might be well-served sticking with it going forward. Though I'd love to see turn-based again... may have to go to Clair Obscure Expedition 33, Persona, Metaphor etc. to scratch that itch.
