Game crashes upon first boot shader compilation
Tried opening the game and not even half way through the initial shader compilation, my entire PC crashes. After trying to force the crash again while monitoring my hardware, I found that my CPU temperature shoots up to 108F prior to the crash while also drawing a ridiculous amount of power. My specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
32GB DDR4-3600
Windows 10 (likely irrelevant)

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue, or have any suggestion to fix this?

No issue on my laptop, but my desktop does the same thing yours is doing. Game loads to "Preparing Shaders" and immediately crashes. FWIW, I bought my copy through Epic Games, so it's not exclusively Steam's problem. Still throwing my brain at the desktop instead of playing on the laptop.
From Event Viewer, two entries are created for each crash on my desktop.

Similar issue here.
I underclocked my CPU and didn't have any more issues.
Temporarily disabling Hyperthreading in BIOS allowed me to finish compiling shaders, but not without one final crash at ~90%. We'll see how the game plays.
It crashed on me 5 times, but kept the progress and haven't had an issue since
