First, copy the whole folder <my documents>\my games\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\Steam
to <my documents>\my games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE
and then get your REMAKE savegames in there by copying all files
<my documents>\my games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\EOS\<super long ID>\*.sav
to
<my documents>\my games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\Steam\<steam game id>
and then go to "Bonus" in the main menu of FF VII REBIRTH. Worked for me.
Under the FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE folder you need to create a Steam folder, then a folder with your steam id. If Rebirth is on steam, you can find that folder with that steam id. Then extract the save in there.
Not sure on the details of getting Rebirth to recognise your remake files though.
Awesome! I will copy my epic saves, but with this trick. Hopefully a patch will come soon to make it playable for me.
Try this:
1 - Open windows security
2 - Go to 'virus & threat protection''→ Manage ransomware protection
3 - Click on Allow an app through Controlled folder access
4 - Add the game’s executable file (you can find it in the installation folder, usually in Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH).
yep this clarified it for me and it worked

Just recreate the folders, rename the files and it should work
Worked fine here on my Steam Deck!
To get your long Steam ID, go to top right corner of Steam where your name is and select account details.
