Force DLSS 4 Preset K with new transformer model for better image quality/clarity in motion
With the 572.16 WHQL nvidia drivers or newer and nvidia profile inspector you can force the game to use the latest DLSS dll and preset K. You cannot force it through the newest version of the Nvidia App as the game is not officially supported.

Preset K is for use with the new transformer model of DLSS 4.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-dlss-4-transformers-image-quality/

Firstly, you CAN simply use the latest DLSS 310.2.1.0 and either manually replace the one in the gamer files yourself or use DLSS swapper and it will automatically use DLSS tranformer model with Preset K. No need to change anything in NPI it will default to K. This other method I am going to show through Nvidia Profile Inspector I think is a more streamlined process once you learn it, since there is no manual DLSS swap/replace needed.

No DLSS swap needed here. All you need is the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector and I also recommend using this Custom XML file found here for an easier process: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/i...tsr-and-mods-etc.439761/page-185#post-6300235 -This post will be updated when they make changes

Direct Link to Custom XML: https://pastebin.com/rNKMuCGs

Rename the file to remove the .txt at the end so it's just "CustomSettingNames.xml' without quotations.

How to setup:
First: Install the latest Nvidia drivers: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Second: Download and extract the latest version of Nvidia Profile Inspector: https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases

Third: Take the downloaded CustomSettingNames XML file [pastebin.com] from earlier and place it in the same folder with the Nvidia Profile Inspector executable. REMEMBER TO RENAME IT AND REMOVE THE .TXT IF PRESENT SO THE FILE IS NAMED CustomSettingNames.xml

Like so: https://u.cubeupload.com/DaemonCipher/f7bScreenshot2025020720.png

Fourth: Open Nvidia Profile Inspector and click on the little sun looking icon on the top row to create a new profile for FFVII Rebirth as there isn't one already. Name it whatever but I named it "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" to match with Remake's profile name.

Fifth: Click the Add Application button on the top row and navigate to the location of the game's executable: "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64" and select the game's executable to add it which is "ff7rebirth_.exe".

Sixth: In the new profile you created, under the very first section labelled "DLSS Override", Click on the drop down options for "DLSS - Enable DLL Override" and select "On - DLSS overridden by latest available". Then, open the drop down options for "DLSS - Forced Preset Letter" and select either "K" or "Always use latest".

Should look like this when done: https://u.cubeupload.com/DaemonCipher/Screenshot2025021204.png

VII: Click on "Apply Settings" at the top right in Nvidia Profile Inspector and close, you're all set.

This should work with most if not all games that support DLSS2/3 natively.

To confirm that the game is using the newest DLSS DLL (310.2.1.0) and Preset K, you can enable the DLSS Indicator hud following this guide to enable/disable the setting in windows Registry Editor: https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-dlss-indicator/#comment-jump

Alternatively you can use DLSS tweaks to enable or disable the hud.

In Nvidia inspector 2.4.0.8 You can now change the profile to latest so itll always use the latest preset and you wont have to change it when a new one comes out.

Yes you don't need the custom xml I just like the layout better with the overrides at the top and being clearly labelled. It's more user friendly.

I mean by default all the override settings are under the "Other" Section and nothing is clearly labelled like preset K is "0x0000000B" and force latest preset is "0x00FFFFFF".

Only the SR/RR/FG dll overrides are a little more straightforward with a simple "On-Off".

i also don't think it's the best idea to set it in the global driver profile, but to each their own.

Yea but this only works for games with nvidia profile. Some do not. LIKE FF7 rebirth for example.

Is k better than u?
works like a charm, thank you so much
Also if use Nvidia Profile Inspector turn on DLSS Force Scaling Ratio and set it to .80x Native. On Ultra settings this cleaned up texture pop in completely without changing anything in the Engine.Ini.

Seems for Forced Scaling Ratio it says it needs "Forced Quality Level" set to "Custom" to work and the "Custom" setting says "pre-571 drivers only".

The post 571 drivers is what makes this method for forcing DLSS through the drivers possible as it comes with the latest DLSS DLL needed.

Also doesn't that just change the ratio of the native res that it reduces the internal resolution to? Why would that help with pop-in?

It shouldn't be controlling LOD bias at all.
