Well its the middle part of a three part series of one game. It is the same as if you would start watching the LOTR trilogy from the second part.

Yes basicly it will be better to play the Final Fantasy 7 Remake first, then you will understand alot of things more, but you can rewatch a recap what happened in FF7 Rebirth but it wont help you to understand the story.

Right now FF7 Rebirth is in a packaged with FF7 Remake for 69.99 go get it and play Remake first then Rebirth
