bugs in nibelheim?
I am only in the very beginning but my performance is meh. stuttering pretty often. Also noticing weird graphic bugs in nibelheim, the counter cloud's mom is standing at, saloon doors in the mayor's building. Possible fixes?

Ok, I fixed this on my end! As I suspected, it had to do with LOD. To fix this, simply go to
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Create a file called Engine.ini and open that file in Notepad. Paste the following into it and save.

[SystemSettings] r.MipMapLodBias=1 r.Streaming.PoolSize=0 r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=0 r.Streaming.MaxTempMemoryAllowed=256 r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0 niagara.CreateShadersOnLoad=1 r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1

I ran across the entire wilderness area outside of Kalm from one end to the other and had zero issues with LOD and I maintained a solid 60fps on the Medium preset. No stutters or hitching.

Told you I was way below CPU specs, but there's no problems from it except somewhat long load times which I'm more than happy to deal with.

textures wont load properly for me
Getting it, too. All those same ones you mentioned, plus more.

Going up the mountain has bizarre geometry all over the place that shouldn't be there. Low texture terrain that is like a wall in the middle of the path, but you can walk right through it. It's just graphical.

Some models along the way are totally messed up. The mako vacuum base station is all folded in on itself. Random props like forklifts are distorted. There's a bunch of busted props that I can't even figure out what they're supposed to be.

Bugs are to be expected, just hoping the first round of patches fixes this because it's the only problems I'm having. I've got a below spec CPU and a 4060 and get a solid 60fps on the medium preset, so I'm happy with performance. It's just the busted models and phantom terrain at the moment. Load times are a bit slow, but I'm pretty sure that's because of my CPU.

EDIT: It got really bad in Kalm. The more I see it, the more I realize it's an LOD problem. This is a fairly common problem in UE4 games. Will need to wait for a patch or for someone to put out a mod to fix it. The mod will probably come before Square does anything about it though, let's be honest.

I’ll try this. Were you experiencing the blackscreen softlock before this fix?
I think this fixed it. Going strong for a few hours now, no issues. You should post this as its own thread!
This also fixed the black screen issue and texture issue I have been experiencing. I only played for around 30 minutes after implementing whatever Darxide23 recommended. I couldn't even get through multiple cut-scenes before. Will continue to monitor, but I have actually been able to play the game.

Thank you stranger.

tried this and a mod to add fsr3 and so far the game has been buttery smooth, ill continue to play and see if the issue reappears

I have a spot saved just before you leave calm as that's a huge trouble spot for me with the game either freezing or stuttering spitting and sputtering bad, and when I added these to an engine.ini File, it completely killed my frame rate for some reason. I was talking to the guy that tells you to not fight anyone in the town, the frame rate dropped down to 20FPS and would not recover. Admittedly, I'm in a unique situation and I have extra stuff I have to have running because I am streaming this game and I've been doing a lot of testing over the weekend with various things. I use an AI voice changer so that, along with this game is just a little too much in the towns. I don't know what these settings do, but they made things exponentially worse for me. It forced me to basically restart my test stream and everything I had up and running just to get things stable again.

Once I removed those suggestions above, I never had that drop to 20FPS happen in the same spot again So I don't think this is a fix that works for me specifically, unfortunately.
I'm about five hours in and I've had this appear twice. Both times I resolved it by saving and loading that save file; may be another solution to try.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I made this comment before all the fixes started showing up on NexusMods. I used the old fixes from Remake as a basis and tweaked until I got it working in Rebirth for myself. From what I've read about the fixes that are out there now is that they can actually make things worse for some people. It just depends on your hardware. Square said they're working on fixes for certain things related to certain hardware issues, specifically with AMD graphics cards. Hopefully the patch comes soon and fixes this without needing mods or tweaks from us.
