Best advice is to either play with a controller, play with the lock on middle mouse button or play only using the keyboard. Not the best experience but it's better than nothing.
The below description only applies to playing locked-OFF and having Combo Targeting (CT) set to FREE in the Gameplay settings. Setting CT to FIXED will result in some loss of freedom when controlling fast paced characters. The CT setting itself may result in more or less rapid cam movement snaps depending on how you play, experiment with both of these settings:
The game determines the enemy you are attacking by checking your movement input direction (Similar to other character action games such as DMC). The ATC will snap to show you the target you are attacking IF they are off-screen. Because this snap is so fast you will probably still be holding the same direction for movement after the snap has happened. This can potentially result in your already held movement input now pointing to a NEW target, OR just the same target that has now moved off camera again, which it will then snap to because you are now holding the movement input toward the target at this new location instead, resulting in another snap of the camera. Depending on the situation and how enemies are laid out on the battlefield you may be able to snap the camera while holding the same input direction forever if you circumstances allow. Just try to be more conscious of your held movement direction when fighting and switching characters or just turn off ATC or lock on more.
Tried, nothing changed.
I can reliably replicate the problem when these conditions are met simultaneously.
1. NOT locked on the target
2. Attacks land on enemies
3. Moving the camera with my mouse
This problem is so serious the game is unplayable because the camera spins 180 degrees every few seconds, alot of the time it happens even when locked on.
A fix must be released through devs or modding...
I see the issue now. I cannot replicate this in the slightest with a controller, but as soon as I used a mouse and rotated the camera DURING hitstop it happened immediately. However, when playing locked on with M+KB I cannot get to happen which makes sense because you don't have camera control when locked on. Only options for now are playing exclusively locked on or using a controller.
