Upgrading my laptop, will this suffice?
Currently have an Omen 15 with a GTX 1660ti, which sounds like can't run this. I'm planning to upgrade my laptop in the next few days and this one on sale seems like a good deal. Anyone have any feedback on the laptop. This a good value purchase right now and will last me next several years? Don't need to play on max settings but definitely want to play whatever game for next 3-5 years. On sale for $1206. Thanks!

I'd say that laptop is overqualified, you'll be more than fine
remember that laptop gpus are not the same as desktop gpus. you can get a benchmark test of this vs some desktop cards though and then look up all the tests people are putting out with rebirth on different cards and find one that is comparable

does it have to be laptop? 50xx series is out soon and for 3-5 years desktop is the superior choice for upgrading and not that expensive, and if it has to be laptop then you can also wait for 50xx laptop but it might take longer than pc

but this laptop you mentioned will still suffice if you dont need to play the highest resolutions and settings
seeing as how this is supposed to be steam deck verified, i'd say it will run it fine
Yeah I like the convenience of a laptop even though I know they're a little more expensive for the same level as a desktop. I figured with the 50 series coming out if meant these 40 series were on sale hence why I could get this one for like $500 off? In other words I figured now was a great time to buy a 40 series?
rather than question why you'd get a laptop, which feels like a pretty pointless endeavour - if you want a laptop, buy a laptop - i'll just say yeah, that'll run new stuff just fine for 3-5 years, exactly as you want.

you said that you dont need max settings on games, it will suffice for 3-5 years, but there will be games that will still have low fps with the lowest settings later on if you choose this laptop, and since u prefer laptop yea just buy this on sale/disc since 50xx laptop is still months away
I just bought a dell xps 16 with a rtx 4070 and the game never gets 60 fps even on low settings with blurry TAA. Capped it to 45fps to get a stable experience but it feels like i am already on the lowest end...
Hi, I have a Legion Pro 5 with Ryzen 7 7745HX, RTX 4070 8GB, 32GB RAM and 1TB NVME, these are the performance I get at 1440p with everyting maxed ingame. Laptop in performance mode. First screen is with DLSS dynamic res 100%-100% and second one with DLSS 66%-66% (I get this is the equivalent of quality DLSS). First wide area in the game:

It's literally in the first hour of the game so I hope it's not considered a spoiler. I don't see an option for framegen so I don't understand if it's enabled by default with DLSS or it's not available at all.

PS. HDR makes the screenshots brighter than what I see on my screen, but I can't turn it off ingame.

just here to offer my 2 cents, but the 5070 laptop's will arrive soon, and the msrp for them are 1200, if you wait a bit and get one of those instead, it will probably be much better.

edit: as someone that has done quite a bit of research for gaming laptop's, the 4070 is not worth in its laptop form, because it doesnt offer much peformance over the 4060 laptop, and they are both 8gb of vram, so at the end of the day, go for a 4060 laptop instead of a 4070 one, it will cut the price by a good chunk.

https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

theres a reason the rtx 4060 laptop GPU is the 2nd most used GPU on steam, its basically only 8% slower then its desktop counterpart, and goes for a lot cheaper when compared to the other laptop GPU in the 40 series

it will also be easier in the future when you want to know if a game can run on the 4060 laptop, since its so close to the desktop counterpart, they run close to the same sometimes, the 4060 laptop vs 4070 laptop are about 10% difference, thats basically 5-10 fps, and sometimes in a lot of games its only a difference between 2-3 more for the 4070.

You're saying I could get a 5070 for $1200 when they come out? No offense but doesn't that seem low given that the 4070 laptops right now are more expensive than that? Also, if I'm hoping to get this thing to last another 4 or 5 years wouldn't it be better getting the 4070 vs the 4060 even if it's a little more expensive?
I'll be deeply shocked if a 5070 laptop will only cost $1200. I would expect them to be within the $2000 range based on previous 70 series of laptops. I might be tempted to purchase one, although I'll probably be content with my 3070ti for at least another year.

My gtx 1650 laptop is running fine yours should be even better. I won't buy another laptop just for it because I doubt I will finish this game. I have already played the original and the story is quite boring. Will wait GTA 6 and witcher 4 for buying one to match their requirements.

The only issue with that laptop is the 16gb of ram. More games are coming out where 32gb definitely helps. It might also be better to get one with a 1080p screen, unless you will be hooking it up to a monitor.

True, but I guess at least I could always add more ram if needed in future yeah?
