FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

Rebirth refuse to launch on GTX 1080ti but launch on GTX980 - (reviewers)
Modders will have their work cut out to bypass the mesh shaders and extend the game's compatibility...
So it seems that square-Enix has chosen to exclude dx11 and dx12 compatibility by default. (As a reminder, dx11 worked on the remake, but was not officially supported, Fortunately, dxvk and vkd3d were doing a marvellous job).
Perhaps a few arguments or engine.ini configuration will suffice, as the game is still based on UE4?

Edit : In other news, while some reviewers couldn't launch the game with a GTX 1080ti, others at GamerGen managed to launch it with a GTX 980 and it runs, at 30fps in 1080p...
What's interesting is that it's highly likely that not all dx12 extensions are supported by the GTX 980, and that the game has forced DX11 compatibility.

Certain features of UE when used, do not allow a game to come with dx11 anymore.
That is why.
Cant wait to see the bait posts after launch saying "use -dx11 to fix stutters" when the game does not come or ship with the dx11 rhi.

Well, the game is stated to launch shader compilation at first start so at least those comments shouldn't exist. One could hope but perhaps I'm underestimating that crowd...
I mean, I can't run it with a Voodoo2 either, what are we doing here?

Crazy to think that it runs on a steam deck, but it will refuse to even open on a gtx card

Yeah, it's written on the store page, DirectX 12.

DirectX12 ultimate (last version) require a RTX, which is why the minmal gpu config is a 2060, it says "RTX series required".

They made sure it runs on the steam deck because the deck is popular

Nvidia are trying to make their older cards obsolete to make you buy a new GPU and they do that through drivers, there is no real reason a 1080ti can't run this game, it's just nvidia being money grabbers like always

There's a reason, GTX doesn't support the "mesh shaders" of the game, RTX support them.

It's not like RTX 2XXX are new, first RTX (2070) was released in 2018, 6 years ago.

The lack of DLSS would hit a 10 series hard as well.

how about launching the game with parameters, such as DX11. Doing so will kill the need for raytracing and all modern UE5 requirements?:

Add the "-dx11" or "-d3d11" or "-force-d3d11" parameter (without quotation marks) to the game's Launch Options within the Steam Library game properties window.

UE4 is perfectly compatible with classic shaders, it's a clear choice on SE's part not to have activated them, just as it's not at all random that they should focus solely on nvidia hardware in their recommendations and supported technologies, when the original support, the PS5, runs on an AMD APU.

It's an 8 year old card. It's solid, served me well. I went from a 1080 TI to 4090.

The 5000 series is out soon and the prices will be reasonable. If you could afford a 1080 TI 8 years ago, you can afford a new 5000 series COMPLETE upgrade.

I watch a dude tried this game with 1050ti and same issue it doesnt launch, SE gonna lose tons of player with this level of optimization
LMAO all the people who have old ancient tech wanting to play newer games is funny. Like there are cards that can only go to a certain Direct X version, this isn't new news.
