Oblivion vs FF7R
Take notes Square Enix, Oblivion did a fantastic job keeping it faithful and changing a little bit of the formula and everyone's praising it. You could have had the greatest opportunity of this game being one of the greatest of all time but no, you had to go in a different direction.

People who don't understand the difference between a remaster and a remake.
I'm sure Square are devastated at Rebirth's universal acclaim, 92 Metacritic score and winning over multiple Game of the Year awards.

And selling worse than port of original FF7 on PS4

What kind of comparison is that? Grasping at straws.

I'm just surprise people are willing to play Elder Scroll IV all over again just because it got a graphical patch.

Nope.

Take notes Oblivion devs, I hated the base mechanics of your system with its inferior spell/class system compared to Morrowind, its lifeless world without much to do nor proper dynamic interactions, and its awful lack of engaging story. The world was lacking cool stuff to discover, too. Easily the worst in the series, imo.

In contrast, take heed of FF7 Remake/Rebirth which improve on the original fixing and adding where the original was weak such as significantly expanding in a good way on numerous characters underutilized in the original, fixing major flaws in the original's combat system/balance and giving genuine depth both to the combat and to each character, fleshing out certain story beats and groups like turks/dio/Cissnei/Dyne/Shinra specific characters/etc., and bringing locations like Golden Saucer and Costa De Sol to life. While it isn't perfect, such as the weaker open world elements, the game majorly improves on the original.

Frankly speaking OP, Oblivion is about as money grab as it gets aside from something like the GTA PC ports. It was an ultra sloppy basic upgrade, visually, while not fixing its core issues. Why would I play the same worst version in a running series of a game just because it is slightly prettier. While graphics are cool, gameplay and story are most important which is why my favorite games are typically still PS1/PS2 games. Honestly, after stunts like this and Starcitizen, showing how truly utterly tone deaf that studio is, I don't think it is likely I will ever buy another game from them ever again. The fact that they did a sloppy job and the game already has an absolute laundry list of reported bugs by players only reinforces this point.

This is a sequel trilogy, so...
I am having some fun with Oblivion Remastered, so far. I didn't play OG Oblivion extensively...and on PS3.

They did change some things like how weapon attacks strike and the level up and attributes/skills are different. I don't remember the OG super well, and I know I didn't understand it 15-20 years ago when I played it, so, I can't make an in depth comparison, suffice to say, it IS different and, as far as I can tell, much more user friendly and better.

Buuut yeah, what VII Remake did was far more interesting than what Oblivion Remastered did to OG Oblivion.

they had the chance to make oblivion good but they kept it the same outdated nostalgia bait garbage

that's the opposite of what I want from a remake, plus that one isn't even a remake

Streamers will. I'm personally sticking to the original on games I already own. It's possible, streamers will help sales blow up, otherwise a remaster wont garner much sales.

What kind of comparison? A fair one.

What company would be happy about port of their 20 year old game out-selling their heavily invested remake project of the same game?

It's a silly comparison. Thanks for playing.

As RPG goes, Oblivion is one of the greatest RPG's of all time if not THE GREATEST, and it's core does not need to change at all. And also it shows you have not been keeping up as Bethesda has updated the battle system and the skill tree, and the balance and add some little things here and as well as quality of life changes. And as story and worlds go none are better than in oblivion, it has heart, it has lot of life, loads of great characters and a multitude of great sites and things to do in it. You sound like you never played it. Also Morrowind is the worse Elder Scrolls games without question.

This garbage though that SquareEnix s*at out is devoid of absolutely anything good at all. P*ss poor reworking of the story, characters are far more bland than they were in the original, graphics and animation are pug ugly and very blurry even at 4K. Battle system is the worse EVER in any RPG I have played and I have played a lot of them, a hybrid action turn based system simply put does not work. The open world aspect to FFVIIR Rebirth is terrible completely lifeless, boring to look at and barely anything to do in it. But the number one bug bare is the atrocious voice acting in FFVIIR Rebirth, horrible and atrocious is being kind, in fact the voice acting in the original Resident Evil is better. Remake and Rebirth are bad games and grossly overrated as well.
