He just doesn't seem to understand the new $70 price point of many AAA games, in general.
It literally is an open world RPG, with many times more content than the previous game. You're making a fool of yourself. Very few AAA games have this amount of value these days.
Basically, the game doesn't have any unusual AUD pricing compared to any other game. All $69.99 USD game will cost 112.88 AUD. Basically, they're just not happy or didn't get the memo that games are starting to shift towards a price increase ($70 USD / relevant conversion). A $59.99 USD to AUD game would be 96.76 AUD for comparison.
Agreed that the game is pretty sizeable compared to most titles, especially with the addition of NG+/hard mode content and balance work which is much better than the sloppy NG+s seen in other games like Elden Ring (like the game, but lazy NG+).
Its a minigame carnival-fest and you all know it.
No replay-ability, no secrets and hidden features like the original had.
Theres more content in the original game, more hours to burn, and guess what, they didnt split all the disks into seperate purchases.
But hey, if your all happy paying stupid amounts for dissected games, go for it.
It was absolutely riddled with hidden features and secrets, that no person could ever find them all on their first playthrough, this new game absolutely does not compare.
This game has a ton of good stuff, too. Most obviously: the characters don't look like a few painted Lego blocks. Enemies are visible instead of having a random chance with every step. The story is more fleshed out. The music is improved. There are more types of materia. And Yuffie sings!
They are BOTH stuffed full of mini-games.
I know some people are terrible at math but when mini-games make up like 10% of the entire game and the majority of it is story, exploration, and combat then your description is completely failing. It cannot be a "mini-game carnival-fest".
Rebirth, literally, has a NG+ mode and additional hard mode only content, boss mechanic and combat mechanical changes, etc.
The original did not have any type of NG+ or comparable replayability factor. The only reason I replayed the original countless times is because it is kind of short and I love the story/cast, which I also enjoy here. This was especially true considering the original had bad combat, by comparison.
What do you even mean by hidden features? You are just tossing out words but if one tried to even remotely define what the heck ever that meant odds are it would be Rebirth due to its various unlocks, NG+ features, etc.
Original did have more secrets, but lets not act like they were amazing. Nothign says "wow much content lets pay more money" like a one room materia cave, or heck 5 of them. Oh, we can't forget that four room Sunken airship or the one room waterfall cave with Lucrecia now can we? Further, you say this as if every game must be chalk full of secrets to be good which would essentially say most video games are bad, period. I could go on and on, but this is a bad argument. Rebirth has a lot to find and figure out, but it isn't quite as "secret" as some of the original's content, no.
Considering the Rebirth has around 40 hours of pure story content, skipping all optional content, similar to your mini-game claim it appears you likely failed math miserably in school. FYI, the original game is much shorter in terms of the main story and even to 100% it is only around 50-65 hours, unless playing highly inefficiently then maybe 80 hours. Further, I can and have beaten the original in 10 hours multiple times, a pretty common thing for the older FF games (FF9 even gives the best weapon for doing this).
Considering the reviews are highly favorable towards the game it also seems unlikely your claim about its value are accurate, but you started your thread with an initially deceptive claim about the price in Australia to begin with so no one should really be surprised at this point.
Yes, I'm sure that slightly extra 1 room to sometimes an astounding 4 fours, I repeat 4 rooms... that is 3 whole extra rooms you know? Anyways... I'm sure that couple extra rooms justifies the price o- my bad, the OG was more expensive if you factor inflation. Well f- your argument is done.
I'm not going to mince words at this point. Are you perhaps just uneducated? At the very least this is how your comments and logic make you sound. It is clear you have never played the game and want to, but take issue with the price increase in many AAA games. Just wait until it goes on sale. Geez.
We get it, you're bitter because you can't afford the game.
