Why didn't the devs choose the Luminous Engine?
Imagine the dream if Square Enix had decided to invest in the Luminous Engine with all the latest technological innovations.

FFXV without DLSS is better looking in some (many) ways

Imagine the dream if SE releases part 3 under next-gen Luminous Engine

FFXVI too is a much better FF game (although there is some anime-kind of cringe cutscenes), rebirth is the worst FF game ever made.

I know opinions are subjective, but jesus how does can one be so wrong?

In terms of part 3, there's zero percent chance they change engines. They'll likely stick to their modified UE4 to release as soon as possible.

Soo Part 3 won't have any technical improvements?
I doubt there are very many people left at Square that know how to use the Luminous toolset since Square made the genius move to shut down Luminous Studios after Forspoken. Its too late for them to change from UE4 since their build has had years of work modifying it and all of the assets for the game are feature complete - the story and scenario are already done as well.

Keep your trolling on websites that are meant for that.

Similar technical improvements as seen from Remake to Rebirth most likely.

Why don't you ask the devs this question instead of random players on steam?

Why would they have chosen any other engine? Rebirth is probably the best-looking game out there at the moment and runs great as well.

There's no way that looks better or even on par with Rebirth; lighting is more flat, texture detail is lower and geometry is noticeably simpler.

Like look at the rock detail around the 9:40 mark and compare that relatively flat geometry to this:

Honestly its because that engine while pretty, is apparently super difficult to work on and was NOT made for nvme's, texture streaming, and many other things. FF7 Remake and Rebirth run on unreal engine 4, which was even modified to do what its doing as its not great on giant open worlds or streaming loading areas in. The TLDR of why they switched its just unreal engine 4 is far easier to develop for, has FAR better documentation, better support, and is scaleable across multiple consoles and makes porting easier.

Well there are some inherent issues with Unreal, especially with larger open world games like this and presumably Part 3. It only really works because of extensive modifications they’ve made to it. The fact Rebirth, at its size, works as seamlessly as it does in UE4 is honestly a technical feat of its own. But generally it’s just an engine that is rapidly becoming outdated.

Though Luminous also had issues and apparently was costly and difficult to develop on, which is why it was ultimately canned.

Not really in my opinion FF15 engine is way better in graphics textures and it showing in little details

Well part of that is also Rebirth in general has better art direction and world/level design compared to 15.
