Glide de Chocobo is terrible

I seem incapable of pulling up or down on the stick without it drifting left or right. This might be my ass 3rd-party game controller. But I can barely pass the training courses for the quest. This is such a terrible minigame.

Just to cover all bases cuz you never know. Does your controller have motion control on it, and if so did you make sure to turn it off in the minigame? The Bronco and Chocobo have their own motion control toggle

Switch to KB+M for it? I found it to be one of the easier minigames with KB+M.

Yes I hated this minigame, the controls are horrible, second worse minigame after gears and gambits.

the last course is an absolute racket, if you want max points without spending an hour solving that puzzle find a video, once you get it you'll find navigating the canyon is a breeze because you spent the time learning how to glide.

yeah i had problem with last one too, i couldnt find the proper timing for last dive.
my advice is the same as the person above, find a good video on YT, its not worth wasting too much time on it when somebody already did

You're probably hitting the gate (the drone projecting the gate) on the final rise and it's costing you the height you need to snag the last two gates. That was what was happening to me. Just angle yourself to the right as you pull up so your wing clips the gate and you should have the height you need.

If you're not too far you can also swing back to the updraft generators for another try at any gates you missed.

For the final course you can nail it by flying back to one of the previous updrafts for extra lift. There's no real time limit after all. Took me a lot of attempts and searching online to see it.
