Correct, but at the same moment in his voice changes here, in the OG, his entire way of speaking changes from acting old and wise to speaking like a teenager. The whole idea is that the old and wise thing is an act, him trying to act older to get people to take him more seriously. It's an act though, and he reverts to his actual voice and behavior once he reaches the canyon.

Yall are missing the point. The VO sounds like an old man actor trying to sound like a teenager. THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT RED IS TRYING TO DO IN THE GAME

He doesn't sound opposite. Red sounded Proud, distinguished and overall enjoyable to listen to. Now he's obv putting on this stupid fake anime voice and i'm just like YUCKY. If he is a kid (he's 48 years old btw) he should sound like a real kid, NOT AN OLD MAN PRETENDING to make his voice crack.

The difference is that when it's only text it's like a book where you use your imagination to create how the characters sound, when you have VA it's harder to please everyone because some people might not like how the VA sounds.

But his vocal cords are 48. If you have an old man voice, you're physically old enough to produce that voice. This has nothing to do with biology!!!

Also it's an English dub, and English dubs of Japanese games use Anime dub VAs most of the time, what will you find as a trend with the English Dub anime VA community? It's mostly 40 year olds playing children. Like Hollywood with 30-40 year olds playing teens.
