FF7 Rebirth Performance Issues
Just got to this game and really enjoyed the intro. Game performance has been super solid, running 60-90 fps with the occasional stutter here and there. But when i get to the grasslands, the fps drops big time and I'm hoping there's something I can do. Here are the graphics settings I'm currently using:
FPS Limit: 90
V-sync on
Dynamics Resolution: 50% and 100%
Background Model Detail: High
Ocean: High
Character Model: High
Effect: High
Texture Resolution: Medium
Shadow: Low
Fog: Low
Anti-Aliasing: DLSS
Character Displayed: 5
Shadow Display Distance: 7
AMD Radeon graphics

Here are my specs:
Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0xxx

**NOTE** - All I'm looking for are suggestions to optimize my experience. I realize this is a very budget gaming laptop. Reminding me doesn't help much, so if you don't have anything helpful to say, then please just move on. I'm saving for a better pc but for right now this is all I can afford.

CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics

AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
- Refresh rate: 144Hz
- Driver version: 31.0.21910.8001
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU
- Driver version: 32.0.15.7242

RAM

- Capacity: 16GB
- Type: DDR4
- Default clock speed: 3200MHz

- Capacity: 16GB
- Type: DDR4
- Default clock speed: 3200MHz

Is there anything I can do to improve performance or am I cooked? Thanks guys.

All three of these should fix a lot of the games frame drops, but you might have the occasional camera stuttering which SHOULD go away as you play more and the game loads more shaders. The game has alot of performance issues and needs more patches, but I hope these fixes makes it more manageable to play.

is your dynamic resolution maximum at 50 and minimum 100? change minimum to 50% and maximum 100% if it is. You'll only lose graphic quality if the game is reducing it to keep your fps 60+ which is better than playing at 30-40 if that's what you mean by performance dropping big time.

You can also try lowering some graphics to see if your fps becomes more consistent, and maybe even capping your FPS at 60 instead of 90 if you're having trouble getting 90+ at max resolution. Your PC shouldn't need to work as hard to meet 60 fps.

Not to sound rude, but you can't be expecting much with an entry level laptop GPU that will be worse than even the desktop version of the same name.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Sorry bud. Keep on saving for that PC that you want. We have all been there. You basically have a 1650 with 4 GB of VRAM and that is 50% of the the minimum requirement of this game (RTX 2060), no matter what you do, you would not have a good experience playing this on that laptop.

Whoever gave me the jester clearly doesn't understand how bad a 3050 laptop GPU is.

I am, but it still makes me shake my head when logic is met with laughter, like saying eating apples is good for you and someone goes "but chocolate cake tastes better."
i struggle to keep it at 60 it occasionally dips into the high thirties and mid 40's in towns i guess i just have to accept this is the way it is until i either upgrade one day or the game gets better patches and graphics options
these are my specs

You're on a mid range laptop from two generations ago.

Dude you
Thanks to those who actually offered solutions! My situation is what it is and I want to enjoy the limited time I have to the best of my ability. I would love more than anything to invest in a better pc but I have a lot of other commitments so I have to wait.

The mods I installed, suggested by TrippedOver, helped out a lot! Best of luck, friend.
