We need a FF6 remake , and it needs to be dark
FF6 is probably the darkest game in the series, and the remake needs to remain as faithful as possible to the classic. FF6 is also one of the best games in the series that never had the privilege of releasing during the 3D era when JRPG games started to get more popular. I hope they plan a remake for FF6 soon after FF7 is complete.

I don't care what kind of "scale" they remake the game, I just want to experience FF6 remade with modern technology. They can even keep the story and characters all OG so they don't change much, that would actually be the best way to go about it.

how much "modern technology" are we talking about ?
if you're talking about this level of graphical fidelity, this is what I meant by "unsustainable". I doubt there's enough players that would want that to warrant the investment. They would still need an open world (Edit: two lol), they would need voice acting, etc.. etc..

nevermind that turn based stuff has very little pull nowadays, and there would probably be better things to remake, like chrono trigger. ;p

FF8 is better

??? So balders gate 3 had very little pull? You know, one of the best turn based rpg games sold in years because it was made by devs that care about making a good turn based rpg game.

If they can remake FF7 into 3 parts, then i think it’s very sustainable if they were to remake FF6 into 1 part by keeping the game OG and not try to do what they did with the ff7 remake by expanding on every town , adding extra side quests, etc.

There’s a reason the first part of the ff7 remake sold a lot more copies, a lot of the OG fans bought it and didn’t like what they did to the remake so they never bought the 2nd part. Square Enix doesn’t need to do a huge remake, just keep it simple, and authentic to the classic, and that will be enough to sell well.

Okay? I’m not trying to start a debate on what game is better.

"Can" and "Sustainable" are two very different things.
Also comparing BG3 to FF... They're entirely different genres. I don't understand how that comparison is relevant beyond wishful thinking. Is also kinda like saying "palworld was successful therefore everyone should make open world survival crafting games", no, the majority of these still tank and there's a lot of external factors that affect sales/the success of a game. ;D

They're thinking 3 games = triple the profits, right?
Well i for one bought 2nd part, because i liked Remake (minus whispers parts), but now i dont really like Rebirth. I said before i will buy part 3 regardless, because its final fantasy 7, but the longer i play, the more my stance changes.
At the moment im thinking i will wait for reviews and opinions when it comes out.

We will never know i guess, but in my opinion game would sold much better if they did real 1:1 remake with added stuff on top

yeah, I would've loved to see a 1:1 remake myself, am just aware that my opinion doesn't necessarily represent market sentiment as a whole and you know, for games to be made, they need to sell. Square has the data to make these decisions, we don't. ^^

FF7 has also sold 5 times as much as FF6, if they were to remake anything, according to sales numbers, it would be FF10. ^^''

FF6 (3) remake wouldn’t make much sense from their pov. There’s no huge universe/franchise and hype to tap into and all the people who even know about are like 40.

Same goes for Chrono Trigger, sadly.

Exactly this. I do believe they should have did that. While I do like the current remake version for what is, and I think it has the best real time combat battle system in modern FF history, I would have absolutely loved a 1:1 remake and it would have cost square a lot less time and resources to develop.

I don't remember FF6 to be that dark. It was mostly goofy.

It was practically Star Wars.

Spoilers below for those that never played ff6

Kefka is the most psychotic villain in FF. He’s poisoned people, burned down towns/villages, killed children, successfully destroyed the planet and had a party member commit suicide, just to name a few…

I would be fine with a FF6 remaster like their current 2D/3D remake style of the recent Dragon Quest and Star Ocean 2 games. Much MUCH better than the pixel remasters we got of the older titles, which lost all the pixel art charm.

Yeah, but that still doesn't really make the whole game dark. Just some dark parts.

I mean Star Wars also had some really dark parts as well, but majority of the story was funny goofy moments or adventurous action, which FF6 shares. Practically 1/3 of beginning of FF6 is almost a re-telling of Star Wars original trilogy.

Most of FF6 was filled with goofy parts. I mean Kefka himself was a literal clown. He was practically Joker from Batman comics. Did he have really evil moments? Sure, but he had a lot more goofy funny moments like Team Rockets from Pokemon than evil moments.
