Xbox controller disconnecting
For some reason, my xbox one controller keeps disconnecting in chapter 8? I didn't have this issue in earlier chapters. Anyone know a fix?

See if the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft store has any firmware updates for you also check Windows update for driver updates. My controller was randomly dcing when the battery was still charged and one of these updates fixed it for me at least.
Return it for a PlayStation controller or any other brand. Ive had a few xbox controllers over the years and they all disconnect randomly with battery charged. updates have never fixed it.
^^ This is bad advice update your drivers/firmware and check several times in the Xbox Accessories App you maybe behind several firmware versions. And also if you have a usb adapter reset it before you reboot your pc. I wouldn't use a Xbox controller with out the usb adapter MS suggests to have it, since this dcing issue happens more with out it.

Also if these fixes don't help try this go to run in the Windows start menu type Control panel, click view by small icons, click on Power Options, click on Change plan settings on under Preferred plans on the Power Plan you have selected.

Then under Change plan settings click Change advanced power settings. Under USB settings there should be a option called USB selective suspend setting disable that. Then click on Wireless Adapter Settings there is a option called Power Saving mode click it and select Maximum Performance. Then click Apply at the bottom right hand corner of the Power options window and click the OK button.

This should fix the issue in case you changed these settings or they where the defaults you had enabled for some reason. I know people love downloading custom power plans but I don't trust those plans and they can mess up how your pc functions.

Thanks for better advice. This has actually helped me. I had done the Power Saving mode but hadn't tried the USB selective suspend. Been using a cord when worried about random disconnects for like 2 years. Every time id search what to do i get your first response.

Glad this helped I was in the same boat as everyone else trying to fix this issue. I spent at least 2 hours looking through all of Windows 11's settings trying to figure out the fix since my Elite series 2 controller worked fine on Windows 10. I just did trial and error till this fixed it hunting down all the USB settings and turning them on and off one by one.

It's just another case of MS knee capping their own products with new features such as this Eco friendly Efficiency mode they added in to Windows 11. I get it it's nice to save money while helping the environment. But if it makes your PC accessories run like crap they should have some sort of FAQ about this, at least on the Xbox controller support page some where. If the issue reoccurs just assume a update changed these settings and go back and check them and turn them back.

Unfortunately, I just need to buy a USB for the controller. Hopefully the advice can help someone else though.

You can look into getting a 8bitdo USB wireless adapter if you are on a budget. It's 10 USD cheaper than the Xbox one and works pretty good, from what I've read with a bunch of other wireless controllers as well.
