How does the save data import work?
Anyone know the details (what files need to be on what windows directory and the likes)? Or is it better not uninstall Remake until I started Rebirth?

As long as you have a save file in the proper DIR it should be fine. Usually uninstalling a game won't remove that but you can easily just backup that DIR to be sure.

Nothing carries over. Rebirth is essentially a fresh start and you begin with basic gear and equipment. Stats and levels are also restarted.

The only time Rebirth will interact with Remake is from the Main Menu where it scans your save files for saves of Remake and the Yuffie DLC. For these Save Files, you will receive extra Summon Materia.

For what it's worth, these saves don't even need to be from a completed game. You can simply start a new game in Remake, save, then quit and load the Save Files. This will also unlock the Summon Materia.

If you don't plan on playing Remake again soon, you can safely uninstall it, but keep your Save Files installed.

And where are the save files located at?

I have first game on Epic but want second game on Steam. Can I make a folder and copy save file from epic so the game can read my save ?

You might not need to move the save file. The game might scan for the epic folder for the save regadless but here is how you can make copy the save to the steam version folders.

Steps to Transfer Save Files

Locate Your Epic Save Files:
Navigate to the Epic Games save folder for Final Fantasy VII Remake:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\EOS
Inside this directory, you’ll find a numbered folder containing your save files.

Find Your Steam Save Folder:
Go to the Steam save folder for the game:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\Steam

Create a SteamID Folder:
Inside the Steam save folder, create a new folder named: 76561198109518934
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\Steam\76561198109518934
This folder corresponds to your Steam account's unique SteamID.

Copy the Save Files:
Open the numbered folder in the Epic save directory (e.g., EOS\1234567890) and copy only the files inside this folder. Do not copy the folder itself.

Paste the Save Files:
Paste the copied save files into the new folder you created in the Steam directory (e.g., Steam\76561198109518934).

Oh, bummer. So, what's the point of grinding so much in Remake if at least levels and skills won't carry over? Furthermore, I'll be very upset if they release a Trio Complete Pack in the future that carries everything over.

For fun?

The end might be the goal, but the idea is to enjoy the journey along the way. Grinding in FF7 Remake isn't just about carrying stuff over—it's about having fun with the combat, experimenting with different builds, and making the most of the experience as it is. If you're only thinking about what happens later, you might miss out on how satisfying the gameplay is right now

I know it's fun and satisfying, but it seems like XP is not enough, there are just a few fights, money is not enough too. The game forces you into backtracking and dodging the objectives so you can grind in order to level up. It seems the game content is not enough to level everything and everyone up. And then, you can't carry all your hard work over :/

Yeah, normal runs of the game you cant really max everything. Corneo Colosseum helps witrh what you have at that stage but i totally get where your coming from.

Not enough for what? I recently beat the game for the first time without any grinding.

Beating is not the problem. I meant maxing characters, equips and materia out so all of this can carry over to Rebirth.

I see, but even in mass effect series you don't carry over your guns and gears...

Mass Effect is not 1 game split in 3 parts and not a remake of an old already complete game. It doesn't matter the continuity.
