I'd honestly recommend:

Original 7 -> Advent Children -> Remake -> Crisis Core -> Rebirth

ff7 remake > crisis core > rebirth?

as a man who's played all of those, yes. as long as you play crisis core BEFORE rebirth, you'll be good

Id argue Remake was designed for people who played the original.
Not really an audience who is new to the game.
A lot of stuff happens in the remake that only makes sense to longtime fans.
The game is called remake but its more of a trick title as its not truly a remake but if i say more id spoil it.

No. You should absolutely not play Crisis core if you haven't played original.
Either play the original before or just go remake -> rebirth
OG -> AC -> Crisis Core -> Remake -> Rebirth

If you don't want to play OG, you should, imho, skip Crisis Core altogether until the third game is out, or wait until you're done with Rebirth if you still have the FF7 itch to scratch.

Them releasing CC Reunion in the middle of their remake trilogy is a VERY strange move imo. I get that people don't know who the MC is of CC is until they really play the game, but that's just part of the FFVII story.

The above path of games/movie will have you experience the gameplay that everyone else has when we we're waiting for the Remake series to start. There's a few other media's that exist but aren't super required to understand the story. There's also a lot of good mods that help the OG game with looks, and there is a voice over mod if you don't really wanna read.

Original > Crisis Core > Dirge of Cerberus > Advent Children > Remake > Rebirth

If you will only play the three games mentioned in the OP, well, Crisis Core is weird with the new trilogy and I wouldn't recommend it without having played OG, which, IMO benefits this trilogy. But Remake first, and I guess Crisis Core next.

Getting closer, not quite filthy casual level, but you are forgetting FFVII EverCrisis (First Soldier Storyline), which would make u a true believer like me XD

Original > Crisis Core >Dirge of Cerberus > EverCrisis/First Soldier (interchangeable with Dirge actually in play order) > Advent Children > Remake > Rebirth.

Release order is the only order that makes sense. Remake assumes you played the original and crisis core. The twist relies heavily on it. The creators of Remake relied on your expectations and knowledge for certain things to happen. It's more impactful if you know what is suppose to happen before you play the remake amd rebirth.

Not only would the twist ending not seem like a twist at all but when you see the original context it will just be confusing because it's now backwards. Remake literally shows you a cutscene that presumably takes place immediately after the ending of Crisis Core.

I will say though, as somebody who played crisis core on the PSP new, it's not worth playing. Just find youtube videos. It hasn't aged well, and unless you are into slot machines and repetitive missions that the PSP hardware needed to heavily rely on, you just won't enjoy it.

If you must play them all, play OG, Crisis Core, Remake, Rebirth. You can skip the movie. It's unrelated.

This is the correct answer.

They already mentioned the route A>B>C>D>E>F...L>M>N..., which is fine.
Still, people can play Remake > Rebirth, or just start with this one, and if they like it, play the rest. I don’t see the need to overcomplicate things either.

This. I really don't see the appeal to treat video games as some kind of homework one needs to do. If you want to jump in most games that rely on information of prior titles have "The Story so far..." and Rebirth is no different.

I'm gonna be doing OG FF7 > Remake > Rebirth and Crisis Core somewhere in-between.
PolyHertz Dec 18, 2024 @ 7:30pm
Original PS1 game first.

The 'remake' is an alternate timeline version of the original (starts off the same before going completely off the rails), and shouldn't be played until you've experienced the story it's branching off of. Rebirth is a direct continuation of 'remake'.

ff7 remake > crisis core > rebirth?

You should absolutely not play Crisis Core before Rebirth unless you want the MAIN PLOT TWIST of FF7 spoiled in advance. Anyone who tells you otherwise is flat out wrong and I don't understand what they could possibly be thinking.

You should not play Crisis Core at all until all three Remake games are released, unless you play the original FF7 first. If you know all the spoilers, obviously then it doesn't matter.
