That's exactly the point that I'm trying to make. We don't have to pay to use the forums, so requiring the internet is fine, and no one complains. But we do have to pay for the games, so we shouldn't have to be forced to get online and ask permission to play what they took money from us for.
That said it's optional. They (probably accidentally) released Final Fantasy X/X-2 without any DRM whatsoever. And they have fully removed it from some games after removing Denuvo.
It's not listed on the store page so it probably won't have it, however the more recent situation of Denuvo being removed after 6-12 months is an ideal middle ground if they do use it.
It's such a meme though that it's probably more harm to include it than not.
Also has the opposite effect, i haven't brought FF16 for that reason.
I don't mind waiting till it's removed and on sale.
But that is the reason i didn't buy it.
if it's not there, then it has no denuvo.
They are not here to "understand" because they are incapable of it, they just need you to agree that it's bad or you will never hear the end of it.
it's just funny how they keep bringing up that activation limit, or "i dOnT wAnNa aLwAys bE oNlIne!!!" as if they will ever reach it or not be online for the absurd amount of time it take to need to check in.
it's all just false excuses that they have in their rotation to keep this endless conversation going, don't take any of them seriously. because they honestly don't even understand what it's meant to actually meant to do, evidenced by claming it's "spyware" or "malware" these are the ones with the least amount of brain cells that have 0 clue and should be laughed at for the clowns they are, the only thing that matters is "DRM bad" and you HAVE to agree. Think of the these people as arguing with gold fish, you will get no where every time.
and givin that deunvo games are not being cracked at all most of the time, they are REALLY upset and snarling more than usual.
They might add Denuvo near the release date. No one knows.
Remake more than likely didn't have it because Square Enix got Epic times exclusivity money. That being said, Crisis Core launched on Steam at full price, and it didn't have Denuvo, either.
Steam IS DRM, which is why this entire conversation is pointless, and always has been. I have no idea how many times ive explained to others how Steam itself, is not only DRM, but also a third party at ALL TIMES, with the exception of Dota2 and Artifact, you know, games Valve made.
Its pretty annoying constantly trying to explain this to a wall, so I simply gave up at this point, because no logical reason or explanation, will appease that side of the crowd. They are looking for things to complain about.
For those that somehow dont know, the reason Steam is DRM, is because you cant run most games, without Steam running in the background. Most games, simply wont launch when steam isnt running. That is by definition, DRM.
Steam provides optional DRM. But it's not intrinsically DRM itself. There are hundreds/thousands of DRM free games, even if most are not.
Larian is a particularly high profile example, with even Baldur's Gate 3 being DRM free.
