Disappearing bodies (SOLUTION)

So I installed Half-Life 2 Update and was enjoying it big time until I encountered the first enemy, which after killing it disappeared after like 2 seconds. After I continued I realised this was not a lone phenomenon, but all corpses disappear after 2 seconds, which loweres the overall game experience for me. After some research and attempts I got it working !

Method:

Locate your HL2 Update folder and find the cfg folder in it

Should be:
C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half Life 2 Update/hl2/cfg

Or:
C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Your Steam Username/Half Life 2 Update/hl2/cfg

Once you found it, locate autoexec.cfg

Right click and open it with Notepad.

Copy and paste the following lines, save changes.

violence_agibs "1"
violence_hgibs "1"
violence_hblood "1"
violence_ablood "1"
cl_detailfade "3500" 
cl_ragdoll_collide "1"
g_ragdoll_lvfadespeed "0"
g_ragdoll_fadespeed "0"
g_ragdoll_maxcount "50"

The last line sets how many bodies will remain on the current segment (map). Too high can cause performance issues or crash the game. 50 should be fine, but you can higher or lower it.

It works. Kind of. Because it doesnt activate the bloodsplatters/decals. I've been searching for hours to find a solution for that. The weird thing is: My regular HL2 is just fine. Completely uncut.

You can write to Steam support that you seemed to have got the censored version.

I had this too, and they could fix it. (took a week or so.)

Otherwise try uninstalling everything from the game. And removing HL2: Update from your library >Help >Support. And then re-add it.

I imagine it may depend what graphics settings you use, because I just played the whole game over the last couple days and I never once had any corpse disappear that fast. In fact I never saw any disappear period.
